DESIGN FOR A HANDLE FOR SPOONS, FORKS, 800.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Design No. 31,574, dated October 3, 1899.
Application filed Se t ber 8, 1899- Serial No. 729,882. Term of patent '7 years.
I To (all who/It it may concern:
Be it known that I, HENRY L. WALLAOE, of Wallingford,in the county of New Haven and State of Connecticut, have invented and 5 produced a new and original Design for a Handle for Spoons, Forks, and Similar Artioles; and I do hereby declare the following, when taken in connection with the accompanying drawing and the letters of reference :0 marked thereon, to be a full, clear, and exact description of the same, and which said drawing constitutes part of this specification and represents a face view of a handle embodying my design.
:5 As shown in the drawing, the leading or material feature of my design is a handle expanding from its lower end, then gradually contracting, and again expanding, forming the shank portion A of the handle. This por- :0 tion is ornamented by upwardly-springing scrolls B, which start from the lower end C of the handle and continue along the length thereof, following its contour, and finally merging into a crowning ornament D at the tip. These scrolls are interlaced at the lower 25 end of the handle by an encircling vine ornamentation E. The scroll border of the upper portion of the handle is also entwined hya similar vine F, which is represented as sending out tendrils G, extending upon the plain o central panel II of the handle, all as shown in the accompanying illustration.
Having described my invention, What I claim as new, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is- 35 The design for a handle for spoons, forks, and similar articles as herein shown and de scribed.
