Description

BEST AWLABLE CCE-W June 8 PATENT OFFICE..
FRANK WV. SIGOURNEY, OF BRISTOL, CONNECTICUT.
DESIGN FOR ClGAR-BOX.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Design No. 11,819, dated June 8, 1880.
Application filed March 5, 1880.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that l, FRANK W. SIGOUENEY, of Bristol, in the county of Hartford and State of Connecticut, have originated and invented a new and useful Design for Cigar-Boxes; and I do hereby declare that the following is a full, clear, and exact description thereof, reference -being had to the accompanying photograph, forming a part of this specification.
Heretofore cigar-boxes have been made of various designs to attract the attention of the purchaser; but I am not aware that the design represented in the accompanying illustration has ever been adopted.
The leading feature of my invention consists in so constructing the box that the outside ap pearance shall be th at of a circular box, larger than the ordinary cigar-box, the object being to produce a design which shall be pleasing and attractive to the eye.
The shape and configuration of the various parts are as follows: The inner walls, which form the rectangular portion D, (which is the receptacle for the cigars,) form a box of the shape of an ordinary cigar-box. The exterior wall, O, is cylindrical, as shown in the photo- Term of patent 3 years.
graph. The tops ofthe cylindrical walls O and the rectangular inner walls are connected by the segmental pieces C, I, I), and J. A small portion ofthe cover is fastened to the top of the walls, and the remainder ofthe cover, which is designated by the letter B, is hinged to it.
The portion B, being shown as raised in the photograph, gives the appearance ol' a box having a plain back. The correct shape ot' the outer Wall, O, of my design, however, is cylindrical.
Having, therefore, described my design, what I claim, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is-
A design for a box-body, consisting of the cylindrical exterior walls, rectangular inner walls, and segmental connecting portions at the tops, as shown.
In testimony that I claim the foregoing as my own I affix my signature in presence of two witnesses.
FRANK YV. SIGOIIRNEY.
Witnesses:
MILES S. PECK, THEO. B. PECK.
