Description

, May 2, 1939- F. c. DELI 15T-AL Des. 114,530
PENCIL Filed Jn. 2e, 1958 EU/@M0712 Patented May 2, 1939 UNITED STATES Des. 114,530
PATENT OFFICE DESIGN FOR A PENCIL Application January 26, 1938, Serial No. 74,571
Term of patent 7 years To all whom` it may concern:
Be lt known that we, Frank C. Deli, Erik Petau,
@and Glenn W. Tammen, citizens of the United States, residing at Chicago, in the county of Cook and State of Illinois, have invented a new, original, and ornamental Design for a Pencil, of which the following is a specification, reference being had to the accompanying drawing, forming a part thereof.
In the drawing:
Fig. 1 is a side elevation of a pencil embodying my new 'design looking toward the clip and showing the cap in place.
Fig. 2 is a view similar to Fig. l but showing the pencil rotated through an angle of 90 and with the cap removed.
Fig. 3 is a side elevation of the cap which was removed from Fig. 2.
' Fig. 4 is a top plan view of Fig. 1.
The design consists in the combination of features illustrated in the drawing, and comprises the combination with the body and tip portions of the pencil shown of the novel arrangement, configuration and appearance of the clip, eraser support and cap, the clip having an inwardly curved upper end in appearance merging into a bead on the lower end of the eraser support, which bead encircles the pencil and appears to be part of the clip, the cap when in place resting with its lower end against said bead, the approximate top one-third of the cap being of smaller diameter and having at its top an inset merging into eight flat substantially vertical faces whose tops respectively form the base lines for eight triangular shaped facets whose apices meet at the center of the top of the cap.
We claim: The ornamental design for a pencil, substantially as shown and described.
