Be it known that I, WVILLIAM S. Wol) mond,.in'the county of Wayne, and State ndiana, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in School-Desks; and I do hereby declare that the following is afull and exact description thereof, reference hi'hg f Riehhad to the accompanying drawings,A makin; o. pair'ltiof this specification.

My invention is designed espedially asasa improvement on. my sehool-desk, patentedg November 10, 1868, and consists inseparately pivoting;` the desk proper and seat upon the standards, in such-a manner that they maybe folded together, or eitherlmay be made to assume an upright position Vindependently of the other; yet, when both "aref brought to their proper position; the movable parts are so adjusted and wedged together, as to become entirely noiseless and permanent.V

`Ther seat fB is pivoted tothe standards, at e', they cast-iron end-pieces of said seat having extensions U U', so adjusted as to wedge closely under the lugs b b' of the desk, thereby holding themiirmly in place, and' securing in a great degree all the advantages of a permanent desk, while, by slightly raising the seat B,A as at B', iig. 2, 'theextensions UU are thrown hack, and the lugs b b released, when the desk may be revolved into an upright position, as shown in iig'. 3.
