FREDERICK J. KOEMM, OF BOSTON, MASSACHUSETTS.
GARlVIENT-FASTENER.
Specification of Letters PatentA Patented Dec. 4, 1906.
Application iiled May 22, 1906. Serial No. 318,216.
To all whom t may concern:
Be it known that I, FREDERICK J. KOEMM, a citizen of the United States, and a resident ofBoston, in the countykof Suffolk and State of Massachusetts,`have invented'an Im rovement in Garment-Fasteners, of which t e fol- ]owing`description, in connection with the accompanying drawings, is a speciiication, like letters on the drawings representing like parts. .V
This invention has -for its object the production of a novel garment-fastener as a substitute for buttons or straps and buckles.
My invention comprises two pin-carrying parts of wire, one of said parts having a hook to engage the waistband of pantaloons.
Figure 1 shows part of a pair of'drawers and part of the waistband of a pair of pantaloons with my novel fastener in place, and Figs. 2 and 3 show the two parts of the fastening detached.
Referring to the drawings, A represents parts of a pair of drawers part of a pair of pantaloons, and B part of the waistband.
My novel fastening com rises' two parts. C and D, each composed o wire. One end of the wire used in the part C is pointed to form a pin c, is bent to form a spring-hook c', and again bent at c2 to form an eye or shield for the point of the pin after the latter has been inserted into and secured to the drawers, as shown in Fig. l. I
The wire forming the art D has a pointed end to constitute a pin (ZP and is bent to form a spring-hook d', then bent to form an eye d2,
shaped to receive and lock the pin d, and is thereafter again bent to form a waistbandhook d3, the end of the wire beingcurved downwardly from the hook d3 and bent at d4 about one leg of the part of the wire entering into the waistband-hook.
When the pins c and d have been inserted in the garment, as shown in Fig. 1, the springhook d will be caught over the s ring-hook c, after which the waistband-hoo d3 will be engaged with the waistband and the drawers will be held snugly about the body by the hooks d c, and by the hook d3 engaging the waistband ofthe pantaloons the drawers will be held up.
Having described my invention, what I claim as new, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is*
A garment-fastener comprising a wire part presenting a pin, a bent portion to receive and shield the end of said pin, and a spring* hook and a second wire part presenting a pin, a spring-hook to engage the s ring-hook of the Erst-named wire part and aving integral therewith a waistband-hook to engage a waistband, said wire being bent to form an eye to be engaged by the pin of said second wire part.
In testimony whereof I have signed my name to this specification in the presence of 65 two subscribing witnesses.
FREDERICK J. KOEMM. Witnesses:
