Be it known that I, RILEY JAMES GILBERT, of Hanover, Rock county, State of Wisconsin, have invented a.

new and improved Gate; and I do hereby declare that the following is a fulhand exact description thereof,` reference being had to the accompanying drawings, in whichi i Figure 1 isa view in perspective of my gate.

The nature oi"` my invention'relates `to that class of fence or farmgates'called gravitating gates, and consists in supporting a gate on wheels on two carrying-beams, so connected` to each other and to a central post that, raising or depressing the end of one, both beams are inclined in either direction, thereby causing the gate to gravitate to an open or closed position at pleasure, and in deiiectingv or turning up the outer end of one or both carrying beams, so 'as to aid in thestarting and stopping of the gate,

To enable others'skilled in the artto make and use my invention, I willproceed `to describe its construction i and operation.-

What I claim' as new, and for which I desire Letters Patent, is

2. The combination and arrangement of the handles N, levers L, swinging fulci'a M, carrying-beams B and C, connecting bar D, gate A, posts F E It, and cross-beam I, substantially as and for the` purpose set forth.`
