UNITED STATES ATENT OFFICE.
EDVARD IVM. BURT, OF SALISBURY, NORTH CAROLINA.
TICKET-HOLDER.
SPEOIFIGATION forming part of Letters Patent No. 558,155, dated April 14, 1896. A lication fil d December 3,1895. Serial No. 570,893. (No model.)
. drawings.
The subject of my invention is a ticket holder or clasp having certain features of a useful nature, which I will hereinafter more fully describe.
The purpose for which my ticket-holder is designed is to retain the price and size cards commonly used in retail stores and attached or affixed to the boxes or cartons containing the goods to be sold. It is not, however,'intended to confine the use to this especial one, as there are analogous puposes which will readily suggest themselves.
I will describe my invention with the aid of the accompanying drawings, and then define the matter for which Idesire to claim Letters Patent.
Figure 1 represents a perspective view of my holder, and Fig. 2 a section thereof on line 2 2. v
1 is the plate of metal, the top portion being bent over and back to form hook 2. At the sides are the turned flanges 3 to retain the card 4, bearing whatever inscription is desired. The central bottom portion of the plate 1 has slits 5 cutting out a tongue portion 6, at the free end of which is stamped or otherwise raised an oifset or rentrant flange 7.
In using my holder the card bearing the desired inscription is slipped into the side flanges 3 till its base rests against the offset 7. The holder is'now slipped under the cartonlid and hooked over the side or front of the box. The ticket or card 4 may be removed without disturbing the holder, sufficient pressure upon the said ticket sufficing to slip it past the projection or oifset 7. If the tongue portion 6 is sprung forward a trifle, it will aid in the successful working of the device.
Having completely described my invention, I wish to claim I 1. A ticket-holder, comprising ahooked plate, side flanges thereon, a slit tongue in the base thereof and a projecting oflset in the said tongue, for the purpose and substantially as described.
2. A ticket holder comprising a hooked plate, side flanges thereon, a slit tongue in the base thereof and a projecting ledge on the end of said tongue, for the purpose and substantially as described.
3. A ticket-holder, stamped from metal, comprising a plate with a hooked portion to be bent back, side flanges to be bent forward, and a slitted tongue in said plate at its base, the said tongue having a forwardly-proj ecting portion, substantially as described.
In testimony whereof I affix my signature in presence of two Witnesses.
EDWARD WM. BURT.
