Be it known that we, AGNES il. Rnnnnrnnn end JOHN P. HIGLEY, of the cityof St. Louis, hate o t' Mi'isournhave invented certain new and useful improvements in "Vindows, of which the following is n full, clear, and exact description, reference being had to the eccompanying drawings forming e part hereof. 1 'ine o'oject of our invention is to provide improved means, whereby window-sash may he opened inwardly. The invention consists in the novel coustruoton, eom'oinzition and arrangement of te. hereinafter specified and designated in claim. in the drawings, Figure l is an elevation o' e window having our invention applied thereto, looking from the interior of e. room, parte oeing broken away and shown in seo- Inon.

On the opposite side of the window from that upon which thesliding barsSare mounted, are additional sliding bars ll which are also T-shaped in crossseotion and mounted to slide in the Tshnped grooves of the freine. The bars ll are also fitted with the usual counter-balancing cords and Weights in a man ner similar to that just described in connection Witn the bars 8.
One edge of the upper sash 4 is hinged hy means of common hinges l2 to the upper one of the bars ll, and the lower sash 5 is hinged at one edge to the other one of the bars 1l by means of hinges l2, so that said sash may swing inward. Vertical projections on the said hors ll. lit into vertical reoessesin the adjacent edges of said Sash, to form a tight joint and exclude dust and. rain. The opposite edges of seid sash are beveled and adapted io engage a beveled face formed on the adjacent edge of the hairs S.

The bolt 13 is provided with a suitable knob or handle 17 by ineens of which said bolt may he retrnctcdwhen it is desired to opentlie sash. The outer end of said holt is beveled in the usuel manner, so that in closing the sash said beveled end may engage the keeper 16, and the bolt thoroby loe automatically retracted.
