Description

ArtNr Y" MARTIN G. KILGORE, OF VASHINGTON, IOWA.
IIVIPROVEIVIENTA IN STOP-COCKS.
Specification forming part of Letters Patent No. 53,627, dated April 3, 1866.
hereby declare that the following is a full,
clear, and exact description ot' the same, referenee being had to the annexed drawings,
making a part of this specification, and to the letters and lign res of reference marked thereon.
The nature ot' my invention consists in constructing a stop-cock with two sectionsthereto, with lead or othersot't metal fora lining around the plug.
Figure l is a top view of my stop-cock. Fig. is a cross-section thereof, and Fig. 3 represents a horizontal section ofthe same.
I construct my stop-cock in two halves or sections, as the drawings represent, and attach them together by two screws, (marked A A,) which also serve to tighten or loosen the parts surrounding the plug, or remove them for repair.
The letters B B represent the heavy hollow tubes that form the inlet and outlet of the liquid to be drawn.
Letter G is a lever with which the plug is turned. D is a plug, made straight, and with a groove or V upon its surface and an opening' through its center to form an outlet for the liquid whesnplaced on a line with the openings in the tubes B l.
Letter E is lead or other soft metal, with which l line the interior of my stop-cock, having on its surface a projection operating in the groove or V in the plug.
What I claim as invention, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is-
A stop-cock in two halves, united by screws or bolts for holding the parts together orloosening them, and having the plugthrough which the tluid passes made straight and with a groove or V in its surface to prevent its moving endwise, with lining in the box, of soft metal, having on it a projection answering to the groove or V in the pluO.
