Description

UNITED STATES PATENT OFFICE.
LOUIS ENRICI'I'I, OF NEW YORK, N. Y., ASSIGNOR TO THE STEREO-RELIEF DECORATIVE COMPANY, OF SAME PLACE ART OF MAKING .PLASTER CAS'TS.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent No. 450,288, dated. April 14, 1891.
Application filed July 31,1890. Serial No. 360,566. (No specimens.)
To all whom it may concern.-
Be it known that I, LOUIS ENRICHT, a citizen of the United States, residing at New York, in the county and State of New York, have invented new and useful Improvements in the Art of Making Plaster Casts, of which the following is a specification.
This invention relates to plaster and other casts; and it consists in means for rendering the same impervious to atmospheric influences, as hereinafter fully described in the following specification and claim.
In carrying out the inventionl take of limewater about five gallons, of linseed-oil about three gallons, of oxide of manganese about four ounces, and of borax soap about six ounces. I prefer to have the soap in the form of thin shavings. These ingredients are mixed together and are boiled until they are thoroughly dissolved and incorporated with each other. The composition thus produced is applied to the surfaces of plaster or other similar casts for the purpose of rendering the same impervious to atmospheric influences.
The method which I prefer for applying the composition consists in immersing the cast or article which is to be treated in the composition as in a bath. The composition may also be applied to the surface of the cast by means of a soft brush or a cloth.
NVhat I claim as new, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is
The composition for treating plaster and other casts, consisting of lime-water, linseedoil, oxide of manganese, and borax soap, produced in the proportions and in the manner substantially as described.
In testimony whereof I have hereunto set my hand in the presence of two subscribing witnesses.
LOUIS ENRIOHT.
