Inghram, 3801 Central Park Drive, Apt. 7, Las Vegas, Nev. 89109 Filed July 12, 1965, Ser. No. 471,002 Claims. (Cl. 211-89) My inventions relates to improvements in multiple clip suspension bracket, and particularly its application to a suspension bracket for a plurality of clips adapted to be used for the storage of a plurality of neckties or other articles of clothing; and the objects of my invention are, first, to provide a novel type of multiple clip suspension bracket which will provide a practical storage space for neckties and the like in a natural hanging position; second, to provide a multiple clip suspension bracket which permits the display of a plurality of neckties while stored in their natural hanging position, facilitating the selection of an individual necktie from the bracket; third, to provide a multiple clip suspension bracket permitting a plurality of neckties to be stored in their natural hanging position in a clothes closet at substantially right angle to the horizontal pole commonly used in a clothes closet for the suspension of garments on clothes hangers when not in use; and fourth, to provide a device for the storage of a plurality of neckties using a minimum of storage space on said bracket, the bracket using a minimum of storage space when stored on the horizontal pole commonly traversing a clothes closet or luggage suitable for the storage of garments in their natural hanging position.
Additional objects, together with further advantages derived in using the present invention, will become apparent from the following detailed description thereof taken together with the accompanying drawing, forming part of the specification, in which- FIGURE 1 is a front elevational view of my multiple clip suspension bracket;
FIGURE 2 is an end view of the bracket illustrated in FIGURE 1;
FIGURE 3 is a fragmentary enlarged cross-sectional view of my bracket taken on line 3-3 of FIGURE 1;
FIGURE 4 is a fragmentary enlarged front elevational view of the bracket illustrated in FIGURE 1;
FIGURE 5 is a fragmentary enlarged bottom view of the bracket illustrated in FIGURE 1;
FIGURE 6 is a front elevational view of a modified form of my invention;
FIGURE 7 is a fragmentary enlarge-d front elevational View of the bracket illustrated in FIGURE 6; and
FIGURE 8 is a reduced plane view of the bottom of my bracket illustrated in FIGURE 6.
Similar numerals refer to similar parts throughout the several views.
The invention described in the accompanying drawing comprises a rectangular base plate, 10, having rounded ends and an inverted V-shaped bracket, 11, attached to the top of the base plate and having its apex aligned with the longitudinal center of the base plate.
The inverted V-shaped bracket may consist of two elements joined at their free ends above the longitudinal center of the base plate and forming with said base plate the side of an isosceles triangle.
A hook, 12, is attached to the apex of the inverted V- shaped bracket, 11, extending upwardly therefrom and having a curved portion, 13, forming a partial circle of a diameter suitable to be suspended on a horizontal pole commonly used in.clothes closets for the suspension of garment hangers.
A plurality of clips, 14, are integrally afiixed to the underside of the base plate, parallel to each other and in spaced relation to each other and at substantially a right angle to the rectangular base plate, 10.
Each clip, 14, comprises a clamp .of substantially U- shape, having two parallel elements, 15, 16, joined at one end and in a 'U-shape, the upper element, 15, of the clamp being integrally attached to the bottom the base plate, 10, and the lower element, 16, extending parallel thereto and vertically aligned therewith, and having one end, 17, projecting beyond the edge of the base plate and extending downwardly therefrom.
A bracket, 18, of substantialy U-shape is integrally afiixed to the bottom the lower element and forms a substantially rectangular frame therewith.
The clips are spaced parallel to each other at a predetermined distance to each other and at substantially a right angle to the base plate, 10.
The modified form of my invention illustrated in FIG- URES 6, 7 and 8 of the accompanying drawing provides for the angular positioning of the clips on the underside of the base plate, 10, at a preselected angle from said base plate and parallel to each other facilitating thereby the display of neckties or other articles suspended on the clips while in storage.
The modified form of my invention further illustrates a spring type of clamp, 19, of semi-circular shape of a diameter sufficiently large to encompass: the horizontal pole commonly used in a clothes closet or the like for the suspension of garment hangers.
It is understood that the spring type of clamp may be used in connection with my invention illustrated in FIG- URES 1 to 5, inclusively.
In order to facilitate the removal of neckties or the like from an individual clip, or for the purpose of changing from a bracket having clips of the type described extending substantially at right angle from the base plate to clips of the type described extending at a predetermined angle from said base plate, the clips may be pivotally suspended to the underside of the base plate by conventional means, such as a pin vertically rotatably traversing the base plate and the upper element, 15, of the U-shaped clamp of each clip, permitting thereby the rotation of the clip about its pivotal attachment to the base.
It is understood that while I have described a preferred embodiment of my invention, the same may be changed in particulars without departing from the spirit of my invention.
I claim:
1. A multiple clip suspension bracket of the class described comprising a rectangular base plate, an inverted V-shaped bracket rigidly affixed to the top of said base plate and having its apex aligned with the longitudinal center of said base plate, curved attaching means afiixed to the apex of the inverted V-shaped bracket and extending upwardly therefrom, and a plurality of clips integrally aflixed to the underside of the base plate parallel and in spaced relation to each other, each clip comprising a clamp of substantially U-shape, having an upper element and a lower element integrally joined in U-shape and vertically aligned with and parallel to each other and a bracket of substantially U-shape integrally afiixed to the lower element and vertically aligned therewith and forming a substantially rectangular frame therewith.
2. A multiple clip suspension bracket of the class described in claim 1 hereof wherein the clips are disposed at right angle to the longitudinal axis of the base plate.
3. A multiple clip suspension bracket of the class described in claim 1 hereof, wherein the clips are disposed parallel to each other at a fixed predetermined angle to the longitudinal axis of the base plate.
4. In a multiple clip suspension bracket of the class described the combination of a rectangular base plate having a longitudinal axis with a plurality of clips, each clip comprising a clamp of substantially U-shape having an 3 upper element and a lower element integrally joined in U-shape and vertically aligned with and parallel with each other, and integrally attached to said base plate parallel and in spaced relation to each other and at a fixed angle to the longitudinal axis of the base plate.
5. In a multiple clip suspension bracket of the class described the combination of a base plate having a longitudinal axis and a plurality of clips pivotally affixed to the under side of the base plate parallel and in spaced relation to each other, each clip comprising a clamp of substantially U-shape, having an upper element and a lower element integrally joined in U-shape and vertically aligned with and parallel to each other and a bracket of substantially U-shape integrally affixed to the lower element and vertically aligned therewith and forming a substantially rectangular frame therewith.
