This invention relates to wearing apparel, and more particularly to neckties of the ornamental type.

Ornamental neckties are in great demand for use at conventions, seashore, and public meetings, and are usually hand painted on the fiat front surface of the necktie. The disadvantage with the present painted ties lies in the fact that the designs must be prepared and the ties painted in advance, and in great numbers. This method has its limitations because any of the specially ornamented and hand painted neckties left over and unsold after the convention is a total loss. A further disadvantage resides in the irregular front surface of the necktie caused by the wet painted design, stretching the wetted portions of the tie while the untouched portions remain normal and unstretched.

It is therefore an object of this invention to provide a necktie having interchangeable designs, to enable the dealer to apply various designs to different colored ties to suit each customer.

A further object of this invention is to provide a new tie and ornament combination where the store owner or purchaser selects the color of the tie and the ornaments to be interchangeably attached at various points on the tie and may afiix them thereto.

A further object of the invention is to provide a necktie with interchangeable third dimension ornaments so that the ties and ornaments may be interchanged.

A further object of the invention is to provide a necktie having a stiffener inserted in the front portion to hold the objects attached thereto.

Another object of the invention is to provide ornamental neckties that can have their ornaments changed to suit the occasion or to allow the tie to be cleaned without harming the decorations.

Other objects of the invention will become apparent as the invention is more fully set forth.

For a clearer understanding of the invention and the objects thereof, reference is made to the accompanying drawings, wherein a particular form of the invention is indicated. These drawings when used in conjunction with the following description serve to illustrate the invention, its principles .and the operation thereof, while the claims indicate the scope thereof.

In the drawings:

Figure 1 is a front elevation of a necktie showing the interchangeable decorations attached to a tie embodying this invention;

Figure 2 is a front elevation similar to Figure 1 with the decorations removed, and showing the holes for attaching the ornaments; and

Figure 3 is a sectional view taken along line 3--3 of Figure 2, showing the tie stifiener and ornaments in place.

In the construction shown in the drawings a necktie It is provided with a front panel ll having a knot l2 and neck band pieces I3 for fastening the tie to the collar of the wearer when the fasteners 25 are closed. Although the general fastening means shown in the drawings consists of tightening the ornament to the tie through the use of a screw and nut, it is appreciated that other types of interchangeably fastening the ornament to the tie could be used without deviating from the general scope of the invention,

While but one general form of the invention is shown in the drawings and described in the specification, it is not desired to limit this application for patent to this particular form, as it its appreciated that other forms of construction could be made that would use the same principles and come within the scope of the appended claims.

Having thus described the invention, what is claimed is:

1. A necktie of the class described having a bow comprising a front panel, a rear panel connected to said front panel through the bow of the tie, a stiffener plate inserted between said front panel and said rear panel, said stiffener being free of the bow and extending wholly from the bow of the tie to the lower terminals of the front panel and rear panel, said front panel, plate and rear panel being co-extensive and having openings therethrough in axial alignment, said openings being located at random on the tie, and detachable means extending through the aforesaid openings to maintain the parts rigidly together.
