' Thus one object of my invention is tol provide a combined shelf and holder that may be neatly folded together so as to occupy an insignificant amount of space in shipment of quantities thereof, and therefore would also lend itself to be 1 carried in a bag by people traveling or camping.

Another object of my invention is to provide a toilet paper holder, where the usual short rod or member to be inserted through the cylindrical cardboard piece carrying the toilet paper, may be omitted; this latter feature is a considerable advantage, as said short rod which is generally kept under tension by means of a spring, is quite diflicult to disengage from its sockets, especially for women, whereas in the present device all that is necessary, when a roll of paper has run out, is to push a full new roll of paper against the empty paper tube, whereby the new roll of paper automatically becomes engaged by the retaining lugs; the same operation also applies to towels.

My device may be made of any suitable material, preferably plastic, but it can also very well be made from metal in which case the parts are mainly stamped out.

As the cost of manufacturing should be small and as the advantage of the device is quite obvious, it is thought that there should be a great market for the device.

With the above and other objects in view, this invention consists of the novel features of construction, combination and arrangement of parts, hereinafter fully described, claimed and illustrated in the accompanying drawings forming part of this application, and in which similar characters of reference indicate corresponding parts in all views, and in which:

Figure 3 is a top plan view of my said device.

Figure 4 is a somewhat perspective elevational view of my device, showing a modification of same.

As the side members I4, I4 are pivotally secured to the fiat top [0 it is obvious that the device may be collapsed, or folded together.

In the modification shown in Figures 4, 5 and 6, my device consists of one piece of material bent upon itself to form rectangular corners as at 2|; in order to make said corners somewhat stiff, but springy, said corners are reinforced by, for instance, making the material heavier around them, as shown at 22; annular lugs 23, 23 of a springy characteristic and adapted to receive a roll of toilet paper, are formed upon the inner sides of the two side members 24, 24.

A still further modification, especially adaptable as a towel rack, is shown in Figure 7 wherein the frame member 25 is bent upon itself, so as to have two arms 26, 26 each formed with a substantially square opening 21, 21 therein, a member 29 preferably of plastic, and which is centrally enlarged as at 28, has its two ends 30, 30 journaled in the square openings 21, 21 said member 29 consists of a piece of material bent upon itself, the ends 30, 30 of this member 29 has upon one side thereof small projections 32, 32 adapted. to secure said ends 30, 30 in the square holes; by pressing upon said projections the member 29 becomes released.

It is obvious that changes may be made in the ,form, construction and arrangement of the several parts, as shown, without departing from top is at the front I members being adapted for folding into collapsed position. v

The combination of a shelf and holder fort toilet papers, comprising a flat top memb r formed with downwardly projecting'lugs at the front thereof, each of said lugs having' anannular recess upon their inner side, a short flange .integral with the flat toprmember and depending from the rear thereof, said flange having an eyelet at feachj end thereof, side members ,-"each' of thela tter having a stud at the-front thereof adaptedto engage the orifices of saidlugs,=rear flanges integral "with and b' e nt upon the" side members said flanges being formed with eyelets at their upper ends, and means inserted through said eyelets of the side members and the downwardly depending flange, whereby to secure the side members and the top member pivotally together, and lugs formed upon the inner sides of the side members and adapted to secure a, roll of toilet paper between the latter, rounded corners at the upper ends of the'fside members, sir/hereby to 'permit the latter to fold upon the 'flat top e member.
