Description

NOV. 4, 1947. J, KLARA CURTAIN AND SHADE FIXTURE Filed Aug. 20, 1945 Patente-d Nov. 4, 1947 UNITED STATES PATENT OFFICE 2 Claims.
My invention relates to a window shade and curtain pole fixture and has for an object .to provide such a fixture upon which one, two or three poles may be suspended and collectively adjusted to poles of varying lengths.
This invention also has for an object to provide a combined curtain and shade fixture in which suspension brackets are provided for a plurality of poles, certain of which brackets may be hidden when not in use.
Another object of the invention is to provide in a curtain fixture a series of foldably connected brackets.
Other features and advantages will become more readily apparent from the following descrption and the accompanying illustrative drawings in which:
Figure 1 is an elevational View of my fixture,
Figure 2 is a, similar view of another of the fixtures shown in adjusted position,
Figure 3 is a section on line 3-3 of Figure 1,
Figure 4 is a sectional elevational View taken on line 4 4 of Figure 2,
Figure 5 is a front elevational view of Figure 3,
Figure 5 is an elevational View of a portion of the xture, one wall being broken away and certain elements folded in and shown extended in dotted lines, and
Figure 7 is a sectional View taken on line 1-1 of Figure 2.
ln the accompanying drawings as above enumerated and in the following specicattion, like characters of reference indicate like parts throughout and in which I0, indicates my invention which consists of a casing Il, in which is mounted a, longitudinal screw I2, secured rotatably at one end I3, of the casing and the other end M, extending beyond the casing and provided with a knurled head I5, for rotation of the screw. Pivoted in the casing IB, as at Il, is the terminal I8, of an arm I9, of a curtain supporting member 2D, provided with a ring 2 I, on its free end. Pivoted to this ring at 22, is another ring 23, which may be extended as shown in Figures 3 and 4, or which may be folded upon the ring 2 I, and both of which rings may be folded within the casing l IS, as indicated in Figure 6. The casing I6, has an extension 24, from its rear end 25, which terminates in a threaded ring 26, which 'is threaded upon the screw I2, said member 24, projecting through the longitudinal slot 2l, in the said casing I I. The casing I6, is provided with an aperture 28, and the casing IIE', is provided with aperture 29, for receiving pintles of a shade roller. When, as usually in summer time, it is only desired to use a shade for a Window, the rings 2| and 23, are folded upon themselves and both folded within the casings I6 or I6', however when it is desired to use one curtain pole besides the shade the member 20, is projected from its casing and the two rings 2| and 23, provide a bearing for one end of the pole. If it is desired to use two curtain poles the ring 23, is extended so that one end of an additional pole may be supported therein. The ring 23, has projecting from its pivoted portion 30, a tongue SI, having s, returned terminal 32, .the edge 33, of which is adapted to engage in the notch 34, of the ring 2|, whereby the ring 23, will be held in fixed extended position.
It is thought that persons skilled in the art to which the invention relates will be able to obtain a clear understanding of the invention after considering the description in connection with the drawings. Therefore, a more lengthy description is regarded as unnecessary.
Changes in shape, size and rearrangement of details and parts such as come within the purview of the invention claimed may be resorted to, in actual practice, if desired.
Having now described my invention that which I claim as new and desire to procure by Letters Patent is:
1. A curtain -iixture comprising a split cylinder support, a screw rotatably mounted therein, a foldable bracket operably mounted upon the screw, said bracket including a casing provided with a screw threaded arm mounted on the screw and an aperture to receive a roller pintle, a pole supporting ring pivotally carried by the casing and being adapted to be folded thereinto, a pole supporting ring pivoted to the first ring and being projectable therefrom, said last ring being foldable upon the first ring and adapted to be folded within the casing.
2. A curtain fixture comprising a split cylinder support, a screw rotatably mounted therein, an extendable bracket operably mounted upon said screw, said bracket including a, casing provided with a screw threaded arm mounted on the screw and an aperture to receive a roller pintle, a pole supporting ring pivotally carried by the Casing and being adapted to be folded thereinto, a pole supporting ring pivoted to the rst ring and being projectable therefrom, said last ring being foldable into the rst ring and adapted to be folded within the casing.
