1 This invention relates to a manifold holder for lipstick or other cosmetic containers and has reference particularly to a holder of this character in which the containers are held on display, and to certain visual characteristics of the exposed portions of the containers with respect to color combinations and color harmony.

It has been determined by extensive experimentation that certain color combinations may be harmoniously used by persons of different types. For example, a person having blond hair and fair complexion, which usually go together, is able to use to advantage certain shades of lipstick coloring and to combine with the selected coloring certain gowns of a harmonious color shade or shades. It is not always an easy task for those less gifted with the instinct of color harmony to choose the lipstick color and dress shade most suitable to her type and it is the purpose of the present invention to devise means, whereby a user may in the first instance select a plurality of lipsticks of the colors best suited to her type and to be able by observing the color arrangement on each lipstick casing determine which color or colors her gown may contain to harmonize with her own type and with the specific color of the lipstick selected.

It is an object of the present invention to provide a manifold holder for lipstick or other cosmetic containers in which the containers are visible through windows in the walls of the casing of the manifold holder and in which the exterior of the containers bears a predetermined color relation to the color of the cosmetic preparation in the container and to the type of the prospective user.

Referring now to the drawings,

Fig. 1 is a front elevational view of a manifold holder,

Fig. 3 is a sectional view taken on the line 3-3 of Fig. 1.

In the drawings l is a manifold holder having cavities 2 and windows 3. Removably fitting into cavities 2 are containers or cylinders 4 for a lipstick or other cosmetic.

The upper outer portions of the containers 4 have covers 5, while the other inner ends of the containers, through which the lipstick or other cosmetic is exposed, does not require a cover or cap.

The exterior walls of containers '4 have small yieldable tongue shaped projections 6, for ensuring the retention of the container in the mani- 2 fold holder, when it is not desired to use the eon-- tents of any particular container. 7

The exterior of the walls of the containers '4 have bands I of different colors, a portion of the colored bands 1 being visible through the windows 3. Such color bands permit a color arrangement for the exterior of the containers which bears a predetermined color relation to the color of the cosmetic preparation in the container and to the type of the prospective user.

After the particular color of the cosmetic preparation tube used has been determined the container for the same is removed from the manifold holder by merely pulling the container from its cavity by means of its cover. After use, the container is inserted in the cavity, while retention therein is ensured by means of projection 6.

Modifications may be made in carrying out the present invention, without departing from the spirit and scope thereof, and I am to be limited only by the appended claims.

Iclaim:

1. In a manifold holder and a plurality .of cosmetic containers therefor, a casing having a plurality of cavities and windows in the wall of the casing each window opening into a cavity and individual cylinder removably fitting into each cavity and having a portion of its Surface exposed through the window thereof and a color arrangement on the exterior of each cylinder which bears a predetermined color relation to the color of the cosmetic in the cylinder and the type of the prospective user.

As an article of manufacture, the combina-- tion of a manifold holder having a plurality of cavities and windows in the .wall of the holder opening into the cavities, and a plurality of cosmetic containers removably fitting into said cavities and having their exteriors exposed through the windows, and color arrangements on the exteriors of the containers which bear a predetermined color relation to the color of the cosmetic in the containers and to the type of the prospective user.

3. In a manifold holder and a plurality of cosmetic containers therefor, a casing having a plurality of cavities and windows in the wall of the casing each window opening into a cavity,-an

individual cylinder removably fitting into each cavity and having a portion of its surface exposed through the window thereof means for retaining each cylinder in each cavity, and a color arrangement on the exterior of each cylinder which bears a predetermined color relation to the color of the r l r 3 cosmetic in the cylinder and to the type of the prospective user.

In a manifold holder and a plurality of cosmetic containers therefor, a casing having a plurality of cavities and windows in the wall of the casing each window opening into a cavity, an individual cylinder removably fitting into each cavity and having a portion of its surface exposed throughthe window thereof, a, tongue shaped extension on each cylinder for retaining the cylinder in the cavity, and a color arrangement on the exterior of each cylinder which bears a predetermined color relation to the color of the cosmetic in the cylinder and to the type of the prospective user.

In a manifold holder and a plurality of cosmetic containers therefor, a casing having a plurality of cavities and windows in the wall of the casing each window opening into a cavity an individual cylinder removably fitting into each cavity and having a portion of its surface exposed through the window thereof, the inner end of the cylinder having the exposed cosmetic material 4 being free of a cover, and a color arrangement on the exterior of each cylinder which bears a predetermined color relation to the color of the cosmetic in the cylinder and to the type of the prospective user.

In a manifold holder and a plurality of cosmetic containers therefor, a casing having a plurality of cavities and windows in the wall of the casing, each window opening into a cavity, an individual cylinder removably fitting into each cavity and having a portion of its surface exposed through the window thereof, a tongue shaped extension on each cylinder for retaining the cylinder in the cavity, the inner end of the cylinder having the exposed cosmetic material being free of a cover, and a color arrangement on the exterior of each cylinder which bears a predetermined color relation to the color of the cosmetic in the cylinder and to the type of the prospective user.
