3 Claims.
This invention relates to a combination window shade, curtain and drapery support, and has for the primary object the provision of an efiicient and inexpensive device of this character which may be readily adjusted to fit windows of different sizes and includes a central support easily secured to a window frame without the use of special tools, and further includes means for the easy adapting thereto of a conventional shade roller and portions to receive and support curtain and drapery rods in proper relation to each other and in a position so that the shade roller or that portion of the shade on the roller will be hidden from view by the curtains and draperies on said rods. I
With these and other objects in view, the invention consists in certain novel features of construction, combination and arrangement of parts to be hereinafter more fully described and claimed. a
For a complete understanding of my invention, reference is to be had to the following description and accompanying drawings, in which Figure 1 is a fragmentary front elevation showing a portion of a window with a combination window shade, curtain and drapery support applied thereto and constructed in accordance with my invention.
Figure 2 is a top plan view illustrating the same.
Figure 3 is an end view illustrating the device.
Figure 4 is an enlarged top plan View illustrating the present invention and a slight modification thereto.
Figure 5 is an enlarged front elevation, partly in section, illustrating the device.
Figure 6 is a transverse sectional View taken on the line 66 of Figure 5.
Figure 7 is a fragmentary perspective view illustrating one of the end members of the support and a portion of the intermediate member.
Referring in detail to the drawings, the numeral 5 indicates a support especially adapted for a shade roller, curtain and drapery rods and includes a hollow intermediate member 6 and end members I having telescopic fit with the intermediate member. A supporting arm 8 has one end portion bent to form a clamp 9 to embrace the intermediate member substantially intermediate the ends thereof. The supporting arm has an arcuate curvature thereto and is secured onto the upper or lower edge of a window frame [0 by a strap type bracket I I.
Each end member I includes an elongated straight portion l2 to enter the intermediate member 6 and an end portion l3. The end portion I3 is bent to provide a pair of L-shaped parts I4 and I5, reversely extending to each other and integrally connected. The L-shaped parts l4 and 15 are bent to provide clamps l6 and I8 to removably receive curtain and drapery fixtures I! on which curtain and drapery rods (not shown) are detachably secured. The clamps I6 and 18 includes tongues I6 to engage with the fixtures II to prevent displacement thereof from the clamps.
'The L-shaped portion I4 is apertured or slotted, as at H), to receive the pintle of a shade roller 20 and bear against the window frames. It will be seen that the L-shaped portions I4 and I5 arranged as specified position the clamps one in advance to the other and laterally of each other which permits arranging the curtain and drapery rods thereon in proper position for the support of curtains and draperies in correct relation to the window.
Thus it will be seen that curtains and drapery rods may be readily adapted to the support as well as the shade roller and that the rods will be so supported that the curtains and draperies thereon will conceal from view the roller and that portion of the shade on the roller. Also it will be noted that the support 5 is attached onto the window intermediate its ends. However,
as shown in Figure 4, the end portions I3 of the end members may be secured onto: the window frame by nails or like fasteners 2|, the portions l5 of the end members resting flatly against the window frame to give additional support for the device on said window frame.
It is believed that the simplicity and advantages of this invention will be apparent to those skilled in the art to which such a device relates, and while I have herein set forth a satisfactory embodiment of the invention, it is to be understood that such changes therefrom as fairly fall within the scope of myclaims may be resorted to when desired.
Having thus described the invention, what I claim is:
1. In a device of the character described, intermediate and end portions, said intermediate portion being of hollow formation with the end portions insertible therein with a frictional fit, said end members having portions thereof bent upon themselves to form window frame contacting parts and clamp parts, said clamp parts being spaced laterally of each other and one in advance of the other, said clamp parts adapted to have frictional fit with curtain and drapery rod fixtures, one of said end portions having an opening and the other end portion having a notch to receive pintles of a shade roller, and means for securing the intermediate portion on a window frame.
2. In a device of the character described, in termediate and end portions, said intermediate portion being of hollow formation with the end portions insertible therein with a frictional fit, said end members having portions thereof bent upon themselves to form Window frame contacting parts and clamp parts, said clamp parts being spaced laterally of each other and one in advance of the other, said clamp parts adapted tohave frictional fit with curtain and drapery rod fixtures, one of said end portions having an open ing and the other end portion having a notch to receive pintles of a shade roller, an arcuate curved attaching arm including an end portion bent to form a clamp to embrace the interme-;
diate portion, and a strap-type bracket receiving the other end of said arm and secured on the upper edge of a window frame.
3. In a device of the character described, intermediate and end portions, said intermediate portion being of hollow formation with the end portions insertible therein with a frictional fit, said end members having portions thereof bent upon themselves to form window frame contacting parts and clamp parts, said clamp parts being spaced laterally of each other and one in advance of the other, said clamp parts adapted to have frictional fit with curtain and drapery rod fixtures, one of said end portions having an opening and the other end portion having a notch to receive pintles of a shade roller, an arcuate curved attaching arm including an end portion bent to form a clamp to embrace the intermediate portion, and a strap-type bracket receiving the other end of said arm and secured on the upper edge of a window frame, said window frame contacting portions of the end members having openings to receive fasteners driven into' the frame.
