UNITED STATES PATENT OFFICE.
MORRIS SHBIER, OF NEW YORK, N. Y.
PANTALOONS-POCKET.
SPECIFICATION forming part of LettersPatent. No. 224,959, dated February 24, 1880.
Application filed November 7, 1879.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I. MoRRIs SHRIER, of the city, county, and State of New York, have invented a new and useful Improvement in Pantaloons-Pockets, of which the following is a specification.
The object of my invention is to provide pantaloons with two separate and distinct side pockets under the same outside pocket-flap, so arranged that one can be entered from the side and the other from the top.
In the accompanying drawings,'Figure 1 represents the outside pocket-flap. Fig. 2 is a vertical section of Fig. 1, taken on line a x, and showing the two pockets. Fig. 3 is a horizontal section of Fig. 1, taken on liney y; and Fig. 4: is an outside View of the pockets.
Similar letters of reference indicate corresponding parts.
Referring to the drawings, A represents one side of the pantaloons, and Bis the pocketflap, having one edge, a, parallel to the side seam, b,aud the other edge, 0, is nearly parallel to the waist-seam d. The opening un der the flap is divided into two parts, (3 D, by sewingthe angular part 6 of the flap to the pantaloonsat the'side seam, b.
E is one of the pockets. It has one of its sides, f, sewed to the under side of waistband F, and the other side, f, sewed to the un-" der side of the flap. The opening 9, Fig. 2, is immediately under the opening 0 of the flap B.
G represents the second pocket, having one side edge, h. sewed to the side 'i of the pantaloons under the flap B, while the other side edge, h, is sewed to the under side of flap B at j, so that the opening 9 to said pocket G is through the side opening, D, of the flap.
The pocketE is entered from the top through the opening 0, under flap B, and the pocket G is entered fromthe side through opening D, under said flap. Thus two side pockets are furnished the pantaloons under the same flap. At the same time, however, the hand cannot be passed from one pocket to the other without first withdrawing it from under the flap.
Having thus described my invention, I claim as new and desire to secure by Letters Patent In pan taloons, thecombination of the pocketflap B, having one edge, a, parallel to side seam, b, the edge cvparallel to waist-seam d, and having the angular part c sewed at the .side seam, I), the pocket E, having a side, f,
sewed under the Waistband F, the side f sewed under the flap, and the aperture 9 under the flap-opening O, and the pocket G, having one side edge, h, sewed to the pantaloonside i, the other sewed under flap at j, and the opening 9, under the side opening of flap, as and for the purpose specified.
MORRIS SHRIER.
