Description

June 24,1941. M. w. DUNNING BOOKBINDING Filed May 13, 1939 a; BY
Patented June 24, 1941 STTES PATENT OFFICE 1 Claim.
.This invention relates to new and useful improvements in duplicate order or receipt books and has particular reference to order or receipt books containing copie for permanent records.
As is known, in most businesses, particularly Wholesale houses, an original and at least two copies of orders and receipts are made. In the case of order books the purchaser is given the original, a copy is sent by which the order is filled and the last copy remains in the book. Loss of time and other hazards are encountered in attempting to locate the next original page to be written upon.
One of the objects of this invention is to provide a duplicate order or receipt book wherein the exact place may be located in a minimum amount of time. I
The invention will be more readily understood from a reading of the following specification and by reference to the accompanying drawing wherein means for carrying out the invention are disclosed and wherein:
Figure 1 is a perspective view of a duplicate order book constructed in accordance with the invention.
Figure 2 is a perspective view showing some of the sheets in a raised position.
Figure 3 is a plan view of a slightly modified form of the invention, and
Figure 4 is a plan view of still another modification.
In the drawing, the numeral I designates the usual order book containing the usual white original sheet A, yellow order filling sheet B, and pink permanent record sheet 0.
The book has the usual cover II and cardboard backing l2 and having leaves or sheets 13 bound therebetween.
By observing Figure 2 it may be seen that the sheet A has the usual full square corner l4 while the copy sheets B and C have their corners severed at angles as at l5.
Thus it may be seen that as the book is used and the sheets A removed therefrom, the angularly cut corners will serve to expose the next original sheet A to be used (Fig. 1).
In Figure 3 a slightly modified form of the invention is shown. A central semi-circular out It is provided at the lower ends of the copy sheets in lieu of the angular cuts l5.
In Figure 4 still another form of the invention is shown wherein the corners ll of the copy sheets B and C are perforated at l8. Thus as the user progresses through the book the corners of the heets to be retained in the book are simply torn ofi.
From the foregoing it may be seen that an order book may be had which not only saves time but is novel in its construction and arrangement.
Manifestly, the construction as shown and described is capable of some modification and such modification as may be construed within the scope and meaning of the appended claim is also considered to be within the spirit and intent of the invention.
What is claimed is:
As a new article of manufacture, a duplicate order book comprising a group of sheets, each having a respective color and bound together, certain of said sheets being arranged for detachment a original sheets, the remaining sheets being retained for copies, certain of said sheets being arranged for detachment a original sheets, the remaining sheets being retained for copies, said latter sheets having their corners angularly severed and interposed between groups of a predetermined number of said detachable bound sheets whose corners are intact, whereby a portion of the next original sheet underlying having an intact corner is exposed beneath said copy sheets.
