  • DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF THE INVENTION
  • With reference now to the drawings, and in particular to FIGS. 1 through 6 thereof, a new sleeping bag and tent device embodying the principles and concepts of an embodiment of the disclosure and generally designated by the reference numeral 10 will be described.
  • As best illustrated in FIGS. 1 through 6 , the combined sleeping bag and tent assembly 10 generally comprises a sleeping bag 12 that has a pad pouch 14 which is integrated into the sleeping bag 12. The sleeping bag 12 has a pair of tent fasteners 16 each extending along opposite sides of the sleeping bag 12. The sleeping bag 12 includes a lower panel 18 and the lower panel 18 has a first lateral edge 20 and a second lateral edge 22. Each of the tent fasteners 16 extends along a respective one of the first lateral edge 20 and the second lateral edge 22 of the lower panel 18. Additionally, the sleeping bag 12 has a pillow fastener 24 that is integrated into a top surface 26 of a base portion 28 of the sleeping bag 12. Each of the tent fasteners 16 may comprise a zipper or other type of mechanical fastener. The pillow fastener 24 may comprise a hook portion of a hook and loop fastener.
  • The base portion 28 rests on the lower panel 18 and the base portion 28 is substantially hollow to define the pad pouch 14 within the base portion 28. The base portion 28 has a forward end 30 and the forward end 30 has a cut 32 extending into the pad pouch 14. The sleeping bag 12 has a pouch fastener 34 that is integrated into the base portion 28 and the pouch fastener 34 is aligned with the cut 32 for opening and closing the cut 32. A pillow 36 is provided and the pillow 36 is removably attachable to the sleeping bag 12 for sleeping. A pillow fastener 38 is integrated into the pillow 36 and the pillow fastener 38 on the pillow 36 removably engages the pillow fastener 24 on the sleeping bag 12. The pillow fastener 38 on the pillow 36 may comprise a loop portion of a hook and loop fastener or other type of fastener that is complementary to the pillow fastener 24 on the sleeping bag 12.
  • A sleeping pad 40 is insertable into the pad pouch 14 in the sleeping bag 12 and the sleeping pad 40 can be laid upon when sleeping in the sleeping bag 12. The sleeping pad 40 is comprised of a resiliently compressible material to enhance comfort when sleeping in the sleeping bag 12. The sleeping pad 40 may have a length and a width sufficient to accommodate an adult lying in a prone position.
  • A tent 42 is provided that has a pair of sleeping bag fasteners 44 which is each integrated into the tent 42. Each of the sleeping bag fasteners 44 releasably engages a respective one of the tent fasteners 16 for releasably attaching the sleeping bag 12 to the tent 42. The tent 42 has a bottom wall 46, a front wall 48, a back wall 50 and a top wall 52, and the top wall 52 curves upwardly from the bottom wall 46 such that the tent 42 has a dome shape. Each of the sleeping bag fasteners 44 is positioned on a top surface 54 of the bottom wall 46 and each of the sleeping bag fasteners 44 may comprise a zipper or other type of mechanical fastener.
  • The front wall 48 has an entrance 56 that is integrated into the front wall 48 to access an interior of the tent 42. The entrance 56 includes an entrance fastener 58 for opening and closing the entrance 56. The top wall 52 has an air vent 60 that is integrated into the top wall 52 to pass air through the air vent 60 for ventilating the tent 42. The top wall 52 has a flap 62 that is positionable over the air vent 60 for closing the air vent 60. The flap 62 releasably engages a flap fastener 64 that is integrated into the top wall 52 when the flap 62 is positioned to cover the air vent 60.
  • A pole 66 is integrated into the tent 42 and the pole 66 is comprised of a resiliently bendable material. The pole 66 is biased into an arcuate position for urging the tent 42 into a deployed position. Conversely, the pole 66 is bendable into a collapsed position to collapse the tent 42 for storage. The pole 66 is continuous and the pole 66 is positioned to extend around a perimeter of the top wall 52 such that the pole 66 defines a curved ellipse when the pole 66 is biased into the arcuate position.
  • In use, the sleeping bag 12 is zipped into the tent 42 to inhibit the sleeping bag 12 from moving in the tent 42. Additionally, the sleeping pad 40 can be inserted into the pad pouch 14 in the sleeping bag 12 for enhancing comfort while sleeping in the sleeping bag 12. The pillow 36 can be attached to the sleeping bag 12 as well to facilitate the maximum amount of comfort for sleeping in the tent 42. Additionally, the sleeping bag 12 can be employed independently of the tent 42 and the tent 42 can be employed independently of the sleeping bag 12.
  • With respect to the above description then, it is to be realized that the optimum dimensional relationships for the parts of an embodiment enabled by the disclosure, to include variations in size, materials, shape, form, function and manner of operation, assembly and use, are deemed readily apparent and obvious to one skilled in the art, and all equivalent relationships to those illustrated in the drawings and described in the specification are intended to be encompassed by an embodiment of the disclosure.
  • Therefore, the foregoing is considered as illustrative only of the principles of the disclosure. Further, since numerous modifications and changes will readily occur to those skilled in the art, it is not desired to limit the disclosure to the exact construction and operation shown and described, and accordingly, all suitable modifications and equivalents may be resorted to, falling within the scope of the disclosure. In this patent document, the word “comprising” is used in its non-limiting sense to mean that items following the word are included, but items not specifically mentioned are not excluded. A reference to an element by the indefinite article “a” does not exclude the possibility that more than one of the element is present, unless the context clearly requires that there be only one of the elements.
