  • BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION (1) Field of the Invention (2) Description of Related Art Including Information Disclosed Under 37 CFR 1.97 and 1.98
  • The disclosure and prior art relates to punching devices and more particularly pertains to a new punching device facilitating additional targets to be combined with a punching bag.
  • BRIEF SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION
  • An embodiment of the disclosure meets the needs presented above by generally comprising a punching bag that is suspended from a supporting structure. In this way the punching bag is positioned to be struck during striking training. A support is coupled to and extends upwardly from the punching bag and the support is coupled to the supporting structure. A plurality of ball units is provided and each of the ball units is removably coupled to the support. Each of the ball units abuts the punching bag thereby facilitating each of the ball units to be selectively struck during striking training.
  • There has thus been outlined, rather broadly, the more important features of the disclosure in order that the detailed description thereof that follows may be better understood, and in order that the present contribution to the art may be better appreciated. There are additional features of the disclosure that will be described hereinafter and which will form the subject matter of the claims appended hereto.
  • The objects of the disclosure, along with the various features of novelty which characterize the disclosure, are pointed out with particularity in the claims annexed to and forming a part of this disclosure.
  • BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF SEVERAL VIEWS OF THE DRAWING(S)
  • The disclosure will be better understood and objects other than those set forth above will become apparent when consideration is given to the following detailed description thereof. Such description makes reference to the annexed drawings wherein:
  • FIG. 1 is a perspective view of a ball unit of a punching bag system according to an embodiment of the disclosure.
  • FIG. 2 is a right side view of ball unit of an embodiment of the disclosure.
  • FIG. 3 is a front view of ball unit of an embodiment of the disclosure.
  • FIG. 4 is a cross sectional view taken along line 4-4 of FIG. 3 of an embodiment of the disclosure.
  • FIG. 5 is a perspective in-use view of an embodiment of the disclosure.
  • DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF THE INVENTION
  • With reference now to the drawings, and in particular to FIGS. 1 through 5 thereof, a new punching device embodying the principles and concepts of an embodiment of the disclosure and generally designated by the reference numeral 10 will be described.
  • As best illustrated in FIGS. 1 through 5, the punching bag system 10 generally comprises a punching bag 12 that may be suspended from a supporting structure 14. The supporting structure 14 may be an elevated beam or the like. In this way the punching bag 12 is positioned to be struck during striking training. The punching bag 12 has a top end 16 and an outer surface 18. Moreover, the punching bag 12 may be a heavy bag or the like and the striking training may include punches and kicks.
  • A support 20 is provided and the support 20 is coupled to and extends upwardly from the punching bag 12. The support 20 is coupled to the supporting structure 14 thereby facilitating the punching bag 12 to be suspended from the supporting structure 14. The support 20 includes a plurality of lines 22 and each of the lines 22 is coupled to the outer surface 18 of the punching bag 12. The lines 22 are spaced apart from each other and are distributed around the punching bag 12. Each of the lines 22 is aligned with the top end 16 and each of the lines 22 may comprise rope, chain or any other load bearing line.
  • A plurality of ball units 24 is provided and each of the ball units 24 is removably coupled to the support 20. Moreover, each of the ball units 24 abuts the punching bag 12 to be selectively struck during striking training. Each of the ball units 24 comprises a ball 26 that has an exterior surface 28. The ball 26 may be comprised of a resiliently compressible material such as rubber or the like to enhance comfort when the ball 26 is struck. Moreover, the ball 26 may have a diameter ranging between approximately 7.0 cm and 13.0 cm.
  • A globe 30 is provided and the globe 30 is positioned within the ball 26. The globe 30 has an outside surface 31 and the ball 26 engages the outside surface 31 of the globe 30. In this way the globe 30 is inhibited from moving freely within the ball 26. The globe 30 is comprised of a resiliently deformable material such as rubber or the like. In this way the globe 30 facilitates the ball 26 to resist being deformed when the ball 26 is struck. The globe 30 may comprise a tennis ball or the like.
  • A cup 32 is provided and the cup 32 is coupled to the exterior surface 28. The cup 32 has a distal end 34 with respect to the ball 26. A retainer 36 is provided that has a first end 38 and a second end 40. The retainer 36 is curved between the first end 38 and the second end 40 such that the retainer 36 forms an open loop. Each of the first end 38 and the second end 40 is coupled to the distal end 34 of the cup 32 having the retainer 36 extending upwardly therefrom.
  • A strap 42 is included that has a primary end 44 and a secondary end 46. The strap 42 is extended through the retainer 36 and the strap 42 selectively engaging a selected one of the lines 22. In this way the ball 26 is positioned on the punching bag 12 and the ball 26 is removably retained on the punching bag 12. A pair of fasteners 48 is provided and each of the fasteners 48 is coupled to opposite surfaces of the strap 42. Each of the fasteners 48 is aligned with an associated one of the primary 44 and secondary 46 ends. Each of the fasteners 48 removably engages each other to couple the strap 42 to the selected line. Moreover, each of the fasteners 48 may comprise a hook and loop fastener or the like.
  • In use, the strap 42 corresponding to each of the ball units 24 is manipulated to engage an associated one of the lines 22. Thus, the ball 26 corresponding to each of the ball units 24 is positioned on the outer surface 18 of the punching bag 12. Selected ones of the ball units 24 are struck during striking training. In this way the plurality of ball units 24 facilitates multiple targets for striking during striking training.
  • The ball 26 corresponding to each of the ball units 24 is aligned with the top end 16 of the punching bag 12. In this way the plurality of ball units 24 are positioned to be selectively struck with high kicks and high punches. Each of the ball units 24 is selectively struck in combination with the punching bag 12 thereby increasing the variety of possible striking combinations. In this way the plurality of ball units 24 enhances the striking training.
  • With respect to the above description then, it is to be realized that the optimum dimensional relationships for the parts of an embodiment enabled by the disclosure, to include variations in size, materials, shape, form, function and manner of operation, system and use, are deemed readily apparent and obvious to one skilled in the art, and all equivalent relationships to those illustrated in the drawings and described in the specification are intended to be encompassed by an embodiment of the disclosure.
  • Therefore, the foregoing is considered as illustrative only of the principles of the disclosure. Further, since numerous modifications and changes will readily occur to those skilled in the art, it is not desired to limit the disclosure to the exact construction and operation shown and described, and accordingly, all suitable modifications and equivalents may be resorted to, falling within the scope of the disclosure. In this patent document, the word “comprising” is used in its non-limiting sense to mean that items following the word are included, but items not specifically mentioned are not excluded. A reference to an element by the indefinite article “a” does not exclude the possibility that more than one of the element is present, unless the context clearly requires that there be only one of the elements.
