Abstract
A sink spout includes a conduit including an inlet, first and second outlets, and an intermediate tunnel having a port communicating with the inlet; a nozzle assembly including central and peripheral nozzles; a central channel communicating with both the first outlet and the central nozzles; a peripheral channel communicating with both the second outlet and the peripheral nozzles; a spring biased shank in the tunnel and including an intermediate, annular recess and an enlargement at an end; a sleeve including two aligned through holes, the sleeve being positioned on the shank with the through holes communicating with the recess; and a pivotal push button including a receptacle with the enlargement positioned therein. In response to pressing the push button, the shank moves to establish a flow path from the inlet to the peripheral nozzles via the port, the recess, the through holes, the first outlet, the peripheral channel.
Description
- 1. Field of the Invention
- The invention relates to spouts and more particularly to a spout for sink, the spout being capable of flowing water out of peripheral nozzles by pressing a pivotal press button.
- 2. Description of Related Art
- Conventional spouts for sink having a device for controlling water flow direction are well known. However, the switching mechanism of the device is complicated and its cost is expensive.
- Thus, the need for improvement still exists.
- It is therefore one object of the invention to provide a sink spout comprising a spray handle; a conduit disposed in the spray handle and including an inlet, a first outlet, a second outlet, and a tunnel disposed between the inlet and the first and second outlets and having a port communicating with the inlet; a nozzle assembly releasably secured to the spray handle and including a plurality of central nozzles and a plurality of peripheral nozzles; a central channel disposed in the spray handle and communicating with both the first outlet and the central nozzles respectively; a peripheral channel disposed around the central channel and communicating with both the second outlet and the peripheral nozzles respectively; a spring biased shank disposed in the tunnel and including an intermediate, annular recess and an enlargement at an end; a sleeve including an axial channel and two aligned through holes through an intermediate portion, the sleeve being positioned on an intermediate portion of the spring biased shank with the through holes communicating with the intermediate, annular recess; and a push button pivotably secured to the spray handle and including a receptacle on an inner surface with the enlargement positioned therein; wherein in a predetermined operating mode, the port communicates with the second outlet to establish a first flow path from the inlet to the central nozzles via the port, the second outlet, and the central channel; and wherein in response to pressing a portion of the push button aligned with the enlargement, the spring biased shank moves to block the second outlet and establish a second flow path from the inlet to the peripheral nozzles via the port, the intermediate, annular recess, the through holes, the first outlet, the peripheral channel.
- The above and other objects, features and advantages of the invention will become apparent from the following detailed description taken with the accompanying drawings.
-
FIG. 1 is an exploded perspective view of a spout for sink according to the invention; -
FIG. 2 is a perspective view of the assembled spout; -
FIG. 3 is a longitudinal sectional view of the spout ofFIG. 2 ; -
FIG. 4A is a side elevation in part section of a complete spout assembly mounted on a sink; -
FIG. 4B is a view similar toFIG. 4A showing a spraying of the spout; -
FIG. 5 is a view similar toFIG. 3 showing water being sprayed through central nozzles of the spout in a default operating mode; and -
FIG. 6 is a view similar toFIG. 5 showing water being sprayed through peripheral nozzles of the spout by pressing the push button. - Referring to
FIGS. 1 to 6 , a spout for sink in accordance with the invention comprises the following components as discussed in detail below. - A
conduit 2 is provided in aspace 11 of aspray handle 1. Anannular nozzle assembly 6 is threadedly secured to an internally threaded opening of thespray handle 1. Thenozzle assembly 6 includes a plurality ofcentral nozzles 61 and a plurality ofperipheral nozzles 62 around thecentral nozzles 61. Acentral channel 12 in thespray handle 1 communicates with thecentral nozzles 61. Aperipheral channel 13 is provided around thecentral channel 12. Theperipheral channel 13 and thecentral channel 12 are spaced apart. Further, theperipheral channel 13 communicates with theperipheral nozzles 62. Theconduit 2 includes aninlet 21 and twooutlets 22. Alatch 221 is provided at an end of eachoutlet 22. Thelatches 221 are secured to thecentral channel 12 and theperipheral channel 13 respectively, thereby fastening theconduit 2 in thespray handle 1. Oneoutlet 22 communicates with thecentral channel 12 and theother outlet 22 communicates with theperipheral channel 13 respectively. Atunnel 23 is provided at a joining portion of theoutlets 22 and theinlet 21 and includes aport 231 communicating with theinlet 21. Apivot pin 24 is provided on an outer surface of theconduit 2. Astem 222 is provided on a blind end of thetunnel 23. Amoveable shank 3 is provided in thetunnel 23 and includes areceptacle 31 at one end, an intermediate, annular recess 32, and a spherical enlargement 33 at the other end. Atorsion spring 3A is provided in thereceptacle 31. Thestem 222 is partially disposed in thereceptacle 31 to urge against thetorsion spring 3A. A sleeve 4 includes anaxial channel 41 and two aligned throughholes 42 through an intermediate portion. The sleeve 4 is positioned on an intermediate portion of themoveable shank 3 with the throughholes 42 communicating with therecess 32. Apush button 5 is provided on anopening 14 of thespray handle 1 and includes areceptacle 51 on an inner surface with theenlargement 32 positioned therein, and agroove 52 on the inner surface with thepivot pin 24 pivotably disposed therein. Thus, thepush button 5 is pivotal. - As shown in
FIGS. 3 and 5 , in a default operating mode, theport 231 communicates with theother outlet 22 and thus water W may flow from theinlet 21 to thecentral nozzles 61 via theport 231, theother outlet 22 and thecentral channel 12. - As shown in
FIG. 6 , in one operation, a user may press an upper portion of thepush button 5 aligned with theenlargement 32 to move themoveable shank 3 inward with thetorsion spring 3A being compressed. Thus, the flow path from theport 231 to theother outlet 22 is blocked, and the other flow path from the port A, the recess 33, the throughholes 42, oneoutlet 22, theperipheral channel 13 to theperipheral nozzles 62 is established. As a result, water W may spray out of theperipheral nozzles 62. It is understood that a release of the pressing may return thetorsion spring 3A and themoveable shank 3 to their original positions as shown inFIG. 3 . - While the invention has been described in terms of preferred embodiments, those skilled in the art will recognize that the invention can be practiced with modifications within the spirit and scope of the appended claims.
