Abstract

An adapter to convert a standard length putter into a Belly, a Long putter or a Fitting tool for Bally putters or Long putters. The adapter is installed into the butt end of a standard putter shaft without tools. A threaded hole in the larger diameter of the bushing is for a set screw to hold the long rod in place when the proper putter length is established. Graduations on the long rod are to allow the adapter to be used as a fitting tool.

FIELD OF INVENTION
THE INVENTION IS AN ADAPTER TO CONVERT A STANDARD LENGTH GOLF PUTTER INTO AN ADJUSTABLE LENGTH BELLY PUTTER, LONG PUTTER OR A LONG PUTTER FITTING TOOL WITHOUT TOOLS AND IS INEXPENSIVE.

BACKGROUND

Many golfers putt with a Belly putter or a Long putter. Belly and Long putters are very expensive and the Golfer must be fitted for the proper length putter for best results. With the Adapter installed into a standard length putter a golfer can adjust the putter to his proper length and lock it in place. The Adapter can be used as a fitting tool to get the exact length putter for a golfer.

SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION

The invention is an Adapter. When this Adapter is installed into a standard length putter shaft, the golfer can convert a standard length golf putter into an adjustable length Belly putter, or a Long putter without tools and is inexpensive. With the adapter installed in a standard length putter shaft, a golfer can convert a favorite putter into an adjustable length Belly or a Long putter. With the length desired the golfer can lock in the length with the set screw in the bushing.
For best results the exact length of a Belly putter or a Long putter is a must. A Golf Club Fitter can use the Adapter installed in the butt end of a standard length putter shaft to get the exact length of a Belly or a Long putter to assemble a custom fit Belly putter or a Long putter. The Golf Club Fitter can get the exact length reading for a Belly putter or a Long putter from the graduations on the long rod in the Adapter. With the proper length established. The Golf Club Fitter can assemble a custom fitted Belly or a Long putter to a customer.

DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF DRAWING

FIG. 1 is a front view of a long square rod 2 and a top view 8 of the long square rod 2. A long round rod 11 with a top view 12 with a flat. A long round rod 11 with a flat 12 may replace the long square rod 2. In the Adapter. When a long round rod 11 replaces the long square rod 2 the holes 6 and 7 may be round.
FIG. 2 is a front view of a round rod 4 and a bottom view 10 showing a hole 6. The outside diameter of this rod 4 is the same diameter as the outside diameter of the butt end of a standard putter shaft. At assemble, the top of a two piece long putter grip is added onto this rod 4. The bottom part of a two piece putter grip is added onto the putter shaft 1, The putter grips are not shown in my drawings the grips and putter shaft are not part of my invention.
FIG. 3 is a cross section view of the assembled adapter. The small diameter of the bushing 3 is apoxied into the butt end of a standard length putter shaft 1. The putter shaft is not a part of the invention. The long square rod 2 or a long round rod 11 with a flat is apoxied into the hole 6 in rod 4 of FIG. 2. The long square rod 2 or a long round rod 11 with a flat 12 is apoxied into the rod 4 hole 6. With a long rod inserted into the bushing 3 and into the putter shaft. The golfer sets the rod 4 to a desired length and locks it in place with the set screw in hole 5.
FIG. 4 is a cross section front view and a top view of the bushing 3. The small diameter of the bushing 3 is apoxied into the inside diameter of the butt end of a standard putter shaft. The hole 5 is threaded for a set screw that is used to secure the long rod 2 or 11 in place after the desired length of the putter is determined.

Claims

1. An Adapter that has a bushing, with a center hole, a locking screw, a rod to hold the top part of a two piece putter grip, the Adapter is installed into the butt end of a standard length putter shaft without tools, with the adapter installed in a standard length putter shaft, the Adapter is used to convert a standard length putter into a Belly putter, a Long putter or a fitting tool for long putters, the Adapter has a bushing that is installed into the butt end of a standard length putter shaft, a long rod with graduations is inserted in the center hole of the bushing, a rod with the top part of a two piece putter grip is on the rod that is attached to the long rod with graduations, after the proper length is determined by the graduations on the long rod, the golfer can lock in the length of the putter with a set screw in the bushing

2. Golf Club Fitter can use a standard length putter with the Adapter assembled into the butt end of a standard length putter shaft the Club Fitter can get the exact length from the reading on the long rod with graduations, after the proper length is established the Club Fitter can assemble a Belly putter or a Long putter with the exact length to fit a golfer.

3. The Adapter, when installed into the butt end of a standard length putter shaft a golfer can convert the standard length putter, without tools, into a Belly putter or a Long putter by locking in the putter's length with a set screw in the bushing.

4. An adapter that has three parts that can convert a standard length putter into a belly, long putter or a fitting tool with graduations in inches, the adapter is inserted into the butt end of a standard putter shaft, without tools.

5. An adapter that can convert a standard length putter into a fitting tool with two bushings and a long rod with graduations in inches.

6. An adapter that can convert a standard length putter into a belly, long putter or a fitting tool.

7. An adapter that has three parts, two bushings and a rod with graduations in inches to convert a standard length putter into a belly, long putter or a fitting tool.
