Abstract

The art disclosed here is about a lifted edge hood and a hood garment. The lifted edge hood disclosed here includes a hood and a pad element on the inner surface of the upper area of the hood, wherein the pad element is adapted to prop up the front edge of the hood when the hood is worn on a person's head. The garment disclosed here comprises a garment, a hood on the garment, and a pad element on the inner surface of the upper area of the hood, wherein the pad mechanism is adapted to prop up the front edge of the hood.

Description

TECHNICAL FIELD

The present invention relates to clothing and clothing accessories, in particular, to clothing with hood.

BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION

Clothing with hood is very popular, especially for waterproof jackets. Almost all waterproof jackets have a hood. In rainy days, people wearing this kind of clothing can just put on the hood. Currently, one problem of this kind of clothing is that when people put on the hood, the front edge of the hood usually droops and blocks people upper sight. This is shown in FIG. 1, wherein the upper sight (the grey area) is blocked by the front edge. This influences people's observation and also has some negative psychological effects by blocking people's upper sight, especially in cloudy and rainy days. This problem is aggravated when the hood has a brim as the front edge. The disclosed art here introduced a lifted edge hood that solves the above problem.
Another problem of current hoods is that it uses an inconvenient way to fix the hood on people's head. Sometimes, people need to fix the hood on their heads. This may be because the person walks too fast, or it is a breezing day. Current hoods always use a rope or a string on the hood to tighten the hood upon one's head. Usually, the force given by the string is more than enough to fix the hood in an ordinary environment. This big force deforms the shape of the hood and leads to an aesthetic problem.

SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION

The present invention addresses the need of people for clothing with hood that does not block sight when the hood is worn. According to one embodiment of the invention, the lifted edge hood disclosed here includes a hood and a pad element on the inner surface of the upper area of the hood, wherein the pad element is adapted to prop up the front edge of the hood when the hood is worn on a person's head. The pad element is attached to the hood. When a person wears on the hood, the attached pad element is adapted to be positioned on the top area of the person's head and support the front edge of the hood. Therefore, the upper sight of the person will not be blocked by the front edge of the hood.
The garment disclosed here comprises a garment, a hood on the garment, and a pad element on the inner surface of the upper area of the hood, wherein the pad mechanism is adapted to prop up the front edge of the hood.
The advantage of this art is that it uses a cost efficient way to improve people's vision when they wear hoods. Additionally, when people wear this kind of hoods, there will also be some pressure caused by the pad element between people's head and the hood. This pressure, which constitutes a resistance force preventing the hood from slipping down one's head, is a convenient way to fix the hood on people's head. With the pad element, the hood can be fixed on people's head in its normal shape.

DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF THE INVENTION

FIG. 2 is a side view of one embodiment of the invention and shows one advantage of this invention. Hood garment 2 comprises a garment 4, a hood 6, and a pad element 8. When a person wears hood 6, pad element 8 is positioned on the top area of the person's head and is adapted to prop up front edge 7 of hood 6. Upper sight 10, which cannot be seen by the person in FIG. 1 without pad element 8, can be seen by the person in FIG. 2 with pad element 8.
The embodiment depicts in FIG. 2 further includes attaching element 12. With attaching element 12, hood 6 can be removed from garment 4 and attached back to garment 4 as before. Attaching element 12 can include a zipper. It also can include a button or a plurality of button. And it can be a combination of zipper and button(s). One portion of attaching element 12 can be on hood 6 and the other portion of attaching element 12 can be on garment 4. Attaching element 12 attaches garment 4 and hood 6 by connecting these two portions together. Those skilled in the art will realize and understand, upon reading this description, that other and or different attaching elements may be used to fulfill the same function. Attaching element 12 is optional, and hood 6 can be fixed on garment 4 without attaching element 12.
FIG. 3 is a front view of one embodiment of the disclosed art. Pad element 8, in this particular embodiment, is one rectangular pad with fillet corners. For the art disclosed here, pad element 8 should be understood as a system with one or more pads. FIG. 4 shows another embodiment, where pad element 9 includes two hemispherical pads. Pad element 8 is on the inner surface of the upper area of hood 6 (also shown in FIG. 2). The inner surface of the upper area of hood 6 is adapted to contact a person's top area of his/her head when the person wears the hood.
Pad element 8 can be made by various materials, either soft materials or hard materials. These materials include but not limited to various kinds of plastic, silica gel, and sponge. Those skilled in the art will realize and understand, upon reading this description, that other and or different materials may be used to fulfill the same function.
FIG. 5 shows one exemplary of pad element 8. Here, pad element 8 comprises pad 16 and holding element 14, wherein holding element 14 further includes pocket 15. In the manufacturing of hood 6, pad 16 is placed in the pocket 15. Then holding element 14 is attached on the inner surface of the upper area of hood 6. Holding element 14 can be attached to hood 6 by sewing up holding element 14 and hood 6 together. Those skilled in the art will realize and understand, upon reading this description, that other and or different approaches are available to attach pad 16 and hood 6 together, either with or without a holding element.
The shape of pad 16 can be various. FIG. 5 shows a rectangular cube with fillet corners. Other shapes, including but not limited to hemisphere, wedge, and donut, are available. FIG. 6 shows wedge pad 18. It should be understood yet that the fillet corners are not necessary for a pad. Those skilled in the art will realize and understand, upon reading this description, that other and or different shapes may be used to fulfill the same function.

Claims

1. A lifted edge hood comprising:

a hood; and

a pad element on the inner surface of the upper area of the hood, wherein the pad element is adapted to prop up the front edge of the hood when the hood is worn on a person's head.

2. A lifted edge hood in accordance with claim 1, wherein the material of the pad element includes plastic.

3. A lifted edge hood in accordance with claim 1, wherein the pad element includes one pad.

4. A lifted edge hood in accordance with claim 1, wherein the pad element includes a plurality of pads.

5. A lifted edge hood in accordance with claim 1, wherein the lifted edge hood further includes an attaching element adapted to attach the hood on a garment.

6. A lifted edge hood in accordance with claim 5, wherein the garment is a jacket.

7. A lifted edge hood in accordance with claim 5, wherein the attaching element includes a button.

8. A lifted edge hood in accordance with claim 5, wherein the attaching element includes a zipper.

9. A lifted edge hood in accordance with claim 1, wherein the pad element further includes a pad and a holding element, wherein the holding element further includes a pocket and the pad is adapted to be places in the pocket.

10. A hood garment comprising:

a garment;

a hood on the garment; and

a pad element on the inner surface of the upper area of the hood, wherein the pad mechanism is adapted to prop up the front edge of the hood.

11. A hood garment in accordance with claim 10, wherein the hood is attached to the garment by an attaching element.

12. A hood garment in accordance with claim 11, wherein the attaching element includes a zipper.

13. A hood garment in accordance with claim 11, wherein the attaching element includes a button.

14. A hood garment in accordance with claim 10, wherein the pad element includes one pad.

15. A hood garment in accordance with claim 10, wherein the pad element includes a plurality of pads.

16. A hood garment in accordance with claim 10, wherein the material of the pad element includes sponge.

17. A hood garment in accordance with claim 10, wherein the garment is a jacket.

18. A hood garment in accordance with claim 10, wherein the pad element further includes a pad and a holding element, wherein the holding element further includes a pocket and the pad is adapted to be places in the pocket.
