Description
- The present invention relates generally to a grinder, and more particularly to a dust collecting structure of the grinder.
- The conventional grinder comprises a base on which a motor is mounted to drive a grinding wheel. An adjustable workpiece platform is disposed on the base to facilitate the placing of a workpiece at various angles. The conventional grinder is not provided with a dust collector. As a result, the dust so produced in the grinding process is a serious air pollutant in the workplace and is hazardous to health (especially the lungs) of the workers.
- The primary objective of the present invention is to provide a grinder with a dust collecting structure to minimize the pollution of air by the dust produced by the grinder in operation.
- In keeping with the principle of the present invention, the foregoing objective of the present invention is attained by the dust collecting structure which is formed of a base, a motor, a dust collecting cover, a blast wheel, a grinding body, and a dust collecting canister. The base is provided with a port. The motor is mounted on the base. The dust collecting cover has an open end and is provided with an opening which is corresponding in location to the port of the base. The blast wheel is disposed in the dust collecting cover and is driven by the motor to turn. The outer edge of the blast wheel and the dust collecting cover are provided therebetween with a channel in communication with the port of the base. The grinding body is disposed at the outer side of the blast wheel and is driven by the motor to turn to carry out the grinding of a workpiece. The dust collecting canister is in communication with the port of the base for collecting the dust.

Thecover 30 is disposed in thebase slot 31 of thebase 30 such that the opening 32 of thecover 30 is disposed in theport 12 of thebase 10. Thecover 30 is provided in the center of the bottom thereof with athrough hole 33 through which a transmission shaft of themotor 20 is put. The throughhole 33 is provided in periphery with fourfixation holes 34 circumventing the throughhole 33. Thecover 30 is fixed to themotor 20 by four screws 35 which are received in the fourfixation holes 34. - A
blast wheel 40 is disposed in thedust collecting cover 30 and is provided in periphery with a plurality ofblades 41 which are arranged at a predetermined angle. Thewheel 40 is provided at the center with a through hole 42 in which abearing 43 is disposed such that the transmission shaft of themotor 20 is put through thebearing 43 so as to enable theblast wheel 40 to be driven by themotor 20. Achannel 50 is formed between the outer edge of theblast wheel 40 and thedust collecting cover 30 such that thechannel 50 is in communication with theport 12 of thebase 10. - An
elastic ring 60 of a rubber material is disposed at the outer side of theblast wheel 40 and is fixed to thedust collecting cover 30 for making the center of theblast wheel 40 airtight. - A
grinding body 70 is disposed at the outer side of theelastic ring 60 and is driven by themotor 20 to grind a workpiece. Thegrinding body 70 of the preferred embodiment of the present invention comprises asanding cloth seat 71 and asanding cloth 72. Thesanding cloth seat 71 is a round plate body and is disposed at the outer side of thering 60. Thesanding cloth seat 71 is provided at the center with athrough hole 711 through which the transmission shaft of themotor 20 is put such that the outer end of the transmission shaft is fastened with thesanding cloth seat 71 by anut 73.
