10 claims. (c1. 12s-16.8)
My invention relates to voucher and check les, letter les, card index les, and the like.
My objects are to provide a tab which can be attached to and detached from a'guide card having proper facilities for its reception and reten- Fig. 5, a perspective view showing Vthe guide card` with the tab mounted thereon, the transparent flap being removed. The tdrawing is for illustrative purposes and, therefore, 1 to e are 23 drawn to an enlarged scale? Although I show the preferred embodiment of my invention, I do not therebyl liinit myself to the precise details shown, but wish itunderstood that, within the scope what hereinafterV is claimed, various rchanges in the size, shape and other details of construction may be made, without departing from the spirit or theinvention.
The guide card l is provided with a vseries of perforations 2 arranged longitudinally of said card.
The taoA is formed of au integral piece of sheet metal. The main body portion 3, hereinafter called the plate, is provided with a pair of hooks r, 4 5, a rigid tongue 6 and a Flexible tongue 7 pro- 3" vided with a shoulder 7U.. The upper portion of I the plate 3 is formed yinto a name card holder 8 containing a depressed portion 9. vThe upper edge of the narne card holder is hemined and one edge of a transparent Celluloid flap is secured tightly in said hem.
The hooks 4--5 are hooked over the top edge of the guide card l, the tongue 6 disposedY through a perforation 2, and the plate 3 moved so as to clip the guide card. When the lip 6 reaches the limit of its longitudinal travel, the shoulder` '7a snaps into the perforation and acts as a stop which prevents the tongue 6 from slipping back. The tab is detached from the guide card by pushing shoulder "la out of the perforation, slidingv 5 tongue 6 back far enough to clear the card l, and
lifting hooks 4-5 free. A plurality or perforations are provided so as to afford a variety of locations for the tab.
The Celluloid flap is raised enough to permit fr' 9 insertion or withdrawal of a name card or other` `plate provided with a rigid tongue, and a flexible tongue having a shoulder, said plate being index card, and when released, the iiap lays over. the name card and protects it from dirt as well as keeping it in place. The depressed portion 9 holds the naine card from escaping edgewise.
The device is particularly useful in banks and oices where each customer must have a pocket or le for his checks or vouchers. It is, however, useful in ordinary letter files and card index files. The guide card 1 may be of any size, depending uponrthe le in which it is used, and any number of perforations may be provided to suit the filing system.
Having thus describedmy invention, whatI claim Vas new, and desire to secureby Letters Patent is: 0
