This invention relates to a razor blade holder and -is a division of niy-ipatentV application'iiled on January 14th, 1925, 'Serial No. 2,329.

Referring to Figs. 1 to 6, a blade holder is shown to comprise a handle with parallel spaced members 130 and 131 which are jointed at one end by 20T the connecting portion 132. The said members are open at the ends 133 and 134. Adjacent to the ends 133 and 134 are formed locking openings 135 and 136.

A clamping member is shown to comprise the spring arms 140, 141 which have each formed therewith the offset portion 143 with the locking extension 144. The arms 140 and 141 are joined at one end 145. On each of the oiiset portions are formed the corrugations 146. A stop flange 148 is formed with the arm 141. A blade 15o is 1ocated with one end adjacent to the end 145 of the arms 140 and 141.

To lock the arms 140 and 141 to the members 130 and 131 of the handle, their open ends are '.351 brought together and the locking extensions 144 are locked with the openings 135 and 136, when the holder with the razor blade 150 which has been inserted between the arms 140 and 141 will be in proper position.

Referring to Figs. 7 and 8, a modified blade holder comprises the handle with the parallel members 155 and 156, which are joined at one end by the connecting portion 157. The open ends of the member 155 and 156 are shown at 159and 160. A sleeve pivot 162 connects the members 155 and 156 and a rectangular supporting block 163 is located between the members 155 and 156 and journaled on the said sleeve pivot. A pair of clamping members 164 and 165 have each formed therewith the offset portion 166 in which are rectangular openings 167 and 168. The opening 168 is of the same length as the supporting block 163 and the opening 167 is somewhat longer.

The openings 167 and 168 of the said off set portions engage the'top and' bottom sides of the block 163.4 The member 165'has extending from one end thereof the pivot 170, oni which is hinged the latch 171, that can bear on the upper face of the-member 164. A-flange 172 is formed with 60 the member 165. A blade 173 is clamped between the members 164 and 165 and is in frictional engagement therewith.

In Fig. 9, which is a slight modification of the construction indicated in Figs. 7 and 8, a clamp- 65 ing member is indicated at 174 similar to 164 and has formed therewiththe corrugations 176. The other clamping member is indicated at 176 with the longitudinal flange 177, and the stationary clip 178 at its other end. The razor blade 173 70 is clamped between the members 174V and 176 and is held in fricticnal engagement therewith.

In the construction indicated in Figs. 7, 8 and 9, it will be noted that theopening 167 is longer than the length of the supporting block 163, and therefore the members 164 and 174 can be moved longitudinally to be located in place. It will be noted that the clamping members 164 and 165 and 174 and 176 are not pivoted to each other but are in pivotal relation to the parallel members 155 and 156 of the handle.

In the construction shown in Fig. 9, when the clip 178 is used, the clearancespace between the block 163 and the opening 167 serves to locate the member 174 in place, to lock with the clip 178, 85 and clamp the razor blade 173 in operative position.

Various modifications may be made in the invention, the present exempliiication is to be taken as illustrative and not limitative thereof.

Having described my invention what 1 desire to secure by Letters Patent and claim is:-

1. In a razor blade holder, a hollow handle opened at one side and one end, a pair of arms for engaging opposite sides of a razor blade exposing its cutting edge and pivotally mounted in the opened end of said hollow handle and capable of assuming a position extended from the handle or folded into the opened side of the handle, and means for causing said arms to frictionally hold said blade, comprising a clip on the free end of one of said arms and bent over the free end of the other arm, and means for holding one of these arms relative to the other, whereby in one position of the sliding arm, the clip engages the other arm and serves to hold the arms frictionally against said blade, said latter means comprising a block with parallel sides and pivotally mounted coaxial upon the pivot point of said arms and between the sides of said handle, and J said slideable arm having an opening of a Width corresponding with the parallel sides and of a length greater than the length of the block.

2. In a razor blade holder, a hollow handle open at one side and at one end, a pair of blade holding arms for engaging opposite sides of a razor blade exposing its cutting edges and pivotally mounted in' the open end of the hollow handle, means conneoting said arms together in parallel relation to each other and keeping said arms in alinement relative each other while said arms are being spread for the insertion of a razor blade therebetween, one of said arms arranged to slide longitudinally relative the other arm, said means enabling both of said arms to swing relative the handle as a unit and keeping the arms in parallel alinement when in an operative position.

3. In a razor blade holder, a hollow handle, ai pair of arms for engaging opposite sidesof arazor blade exposing its cutting edge and pivotally mounted in the handle, a clip on the free end of one of said arms and bent over the free end of the other arm, ablock with parallel sides pivotally mounted coaxial upon the pivot point of said arms and between-the sides of said handle,

and one of said arms having an opening o1' a width corresponding with the parallel sides and of a length greater than the length of the block to enable said arm to be slid relative to the other arm.

4. In a razor blade holder, a hollow handle open at one side and at one end, a pair of blade holding arms for engaging opposite sides of a razor blade exposing its cutting edge and pivotally mounted in the handle and adapted to be folded into the open side of said handle when in an linoperative position, means connecting said arms together in parallel relation to each other and keeping said arms in alinement while said arms are being spread for the insertion of a razor blade therebetween, one of said arms being slidable relative to the handle, whereby in one position said slidable arm engages frictionally a blade and in another position it releases the blade, said means enabling both of said arms to swing as a unit and keeping said arms inparallel alinement when in an operative position, and means for locking said arms together at one end thereof to frictionally hold a razor blade therebetween,
