Description

July'3l, 1934. EGLl 1,968,132
I WEAVING SHUTTLE WEFT CARRIER FOR LOOMS I Filed Dec, 22, 19:53 I
Patented July 31, 1934 UNITED STATES PATENT; OFFICE Ernst Egli, Ruti, Switzerland, assignor to Maschinenfabrik Riiti vormals Caspar Honegger,
Ruti, Switzerland Application December 22, 1933, Serial No. 703,615 In Switzerland January 9, 1933 4 Claims.
The present invention relates to a weaving shuttle weft carrier for looms. According to the invention, this carrier has a solid fiat main part, a thickened portion of dovetail shape in plan at 5 the rear end of the solid, fiat portion and a rear portion adapted to be rigidly mounted in the shuttle. This weft carrier affords a maximum of weft material to be brought into the shuttle and a dovetailed building up of the weft malO terial upon the weft carrier and a satisfactory unwinding of the weft material.
Preferably the thickened portion has a recess open at the front' for a weft feeler, and peripheral channels for giving better holding to the weft material upon the thickened portion of the carrier.
The accompanying drawing illustrates one example of the invention.
In the drawing, Fig. l is a plan of the improved weft carrier and Fig. 2 is an elevation thereof. a is the solid flat main part of the weft carrier having a rounded point a This weft carrier may be of wood or of an artificial mass.
The rear part a of the weft-carrier also is fiat and has a hole a for securing it in the shuttle, for example, by means of a pin; The rear part of the flat main portion a has a thickening a which in plan is of dovetail shape with peripheral channels a and with a recess a open at the front for the entry of a weft feeler. On account of the dove-tail shaped thickening a of the part a the thread winding is also of a dove-tail shape, holds fast on the weft-carrier and the unwinding of the thread is satisfactory. a. is a channel for the reception of the reserve of thread. The weft carrier is very suitable for use with silk looms (automatic looms).
What I claim is:
1. A shuttle weft carrier having a solid flat main part, a thickened portion of dovetail shape in plan at the rear end of the solid, flat portion and a rear portion adapted to be rigidly mounted in the shuttle.
2. A shuttle weft carrier having a solid flat main portion, a thickened portion of dovetail shape in plan at the rear end of the solid, fiat portion and a rear portion adapted to be rigidly mounted in the shuttle, the thickened portion being provided with peripheral channels.
3. A shuttle weft carrier having a solid fiat portion, a thickened portion of dovetail shape in plan at the rear end of the solid, flat portion and a rear portion adapted to be rigidly mounted in the shuttle, the thickened portion having a recess open at the front for the entry of a weft feeler.
4. A shuttle weft carrier having a solid flat main portion, a thickened portion of dovetail shape in plan at .the rear end of the solid, fiat portion and a rear portion adapted to be rigidly mounted in.,the shuttle, the rear portion of the carrier also being flat and having a hole for securing the weft carrier in the shuttle.
