WINDOW SHADE FITTING Application filed April 21,
This invention relates to window shade fittings that are usually secured to window frames and are utilized for supporting the journals of the shade rollers.
The principal object of the invention is to provide improved window shade fittings that are simple, inexpensive, strong, durable, conveniently and economically manufacturable, and conveniently utilizable.
Another object is to provide window shade fittings having improved means for compensating any discrepancies occurring in the lengths of the shade rollers to which they may have been out.
Other objects and advantages will hereinafter appear.

Fig. 1 is a general front elevation showing a window frame with the fittings of this invention secured thereto, and the shade rollers supported in operative condition by the said fittings.

he fitting 1 constituting the invention comprises a plate 2 which is secured to the window frame 3, by means of screws 4; that pass through openings 5 in the plate and thread into said frame. From the plate are stamped away portions 6, 7, which are disposed obliquely to the plate and at an acute angle to the area from which they have been stamped away. The terminals 8 of the plateportions, 6, 7 are provided with bearingopenings 9 for receiving and supporting the journals 10, 11 of the spring rollers 12 of the window shades 13, 14: in the manner shown. The plate- portions 6, 7, are springy, and hence they take up any discrepancy that may occur in the lengths of the shade rollers, as between their actual lengths and the precise lengths to which they should have been out to insure 5 efiicient fitting of the shades to the particular 7 1927. window. The dash-and-dot lines in Fig. 1' indicate the range of automatic adjustments of the fittings to any occurring discrepancies in the shade rollers. As shown in Fig. 2, the plate portion 6 is provided with two bearing- 1 openings 9 for the upper shade roller, each of which openings is staggered relatively to the bearing-opening in portion 7 thereby rendering each of the opposite fittings interchangeable for either the right or left side of the window frame.
According to the modification shown in Fig. 3, the plate portions 6, 7 are provided with thumb-pieces 15, which serve for conveniently manipulating said plate-portions when-mounting and demounting the window shades.
In the modifications shown in Figs. 4, 5, the fitting consists of a plate 16, which is secured to the window frame 3, and this plate is provided with stamped-away framing portions 17 for the reception of plate-parts 18 from which extend plate- portions 6, 7 Screws 4 pass through the portions 17, 18 and thread into the wood for securing the fittings in place. Should these plate- portions 6, 7 become impaired through wear, the same may be removed and new plate portions inserted into the framing portions 17. These portions 6, 7 are shown provided with pairs of thumb-pieces 15, so as to render these fittings interchangeable for either the right or left sides of the window frame.
According to the modification shown in Fig. 6, the plate-parts 18 are held to the plate 16 and aligned therewith, by means of ears 19 extending from said parts and entering into openings 20 provided in plate 16.
Variations may be resorted to within the scope of the invention.
Having thus described my invention, I claim A window shade fitting comprising a single piece plate adapted to be secured to a wmdow frame, said plate having integral therewith a pair of springy portions each of which is cut from the side edge thereof and bent away therefrom no further than to a plane which forms an acute angle with the 6 plane of said plate, each of said portions having a bearing for the reception of a shade roller journal, and each of said portions having integral therewith a projection extending laterally therefrom to constitute a thumb- 10 piece for its manipulation.
