T his invention relates to combination bath tubs and dressing tables, and more particularly to a device of this kind which isV adapted for use in the bathing of babies.

An object of this invention is to provide a combined tub of foldable construction which, when folded, will occupy a relatively small space, the tub being disposed at a convenient height.

Another object of this invention is to provide in 'a construction of this kind means for providing a dressing table upon which the baby may be disposed when dressing the baby, the table construction being carried by the foldable tub construction and movable into operative or inoperative position so that when it is in inoperative position, the table will not interfere with the normal use of the tub.

A further object of this invention is to provide a flexible table construction which is `mounted on a frame, the flexible top of the table being stretched within the frame and being of a strength to support a child thereupon.

A still further object of this invention is to provide in a construction of this kind means for supporting articles used in the bathing and dressing of babies, the articles being supported at a convenient location where they may be used during the time that the device is used as a tub or during` the time that the device is used as a dressing table.

Referring to the drawings wherein like numerals of reference designate corresponding parts throughout the several views, the numeral 10 designates generally a foldable frame vstructure upon which a flexible tub construction 11 is mountedm The frame structure 10 comprises end members 12 which are pivotally secured togotliier intermediate their ends by means of pivotal members 13 and bracing members 11i connect opposite end members together for simultanenous movement. A top connecting bar 15 also connects opposing end members 12.

At the front edge of the frame structure 10, there is provided an elongated flexible sheet 16 which has the lower end thereof free and is provided with pocket members 17 at each end thereof and an intermediate pocket 18, this intermediate pocket 18 having a rubber or water-proof lining 19 so that wet articles may be disposed therein without dripping downwardly onto the floor. These pockets 17 are adapted to receive articles in the form of clothing or the like, and the intermediate pocket 18 is adapted to receive wash rags, soap or the like used in the bathing of the child positioned within the tub 11.

When the frame structure 10 is in unfolded or operative position, the article holding member 16 will be disposed in depending or vertical position and when the frame 10 is in collapsed or folded position, the article holding member 1G will lie fiat against the frame structure and the tub 11. The tub 11 is provided with a draining outlet 2() and a valve 21 is interposed in a pipe or tube 22 which is connected to the outlet 20. In this manner, the water within the tub 11 may be readily drained outwardly therefrom through the bottom of the tub.

A second article holding member or rack 23 is mounted on a frame structure, generally designated as 24s, which comprises a "u lshaped bar 25 having a connecting member 26 connected to the opposite legs thereof intermediate the ends of the legs, and the l free ends of the legs of the ll-member 25 are offset, as at 27, and removably engage in apertures 28 provided in the rear bar 15 of the frame structure 10. A flexible sheet 29 is disposed within the frame structure 24 and is provided with a plurality of pockets 30 which open upwardly and which are adapted to receive articles used in the bathing and dressing of the child.

A dressing table structure, generally designated as 3l, is slidably mounted on the upper portion of the frame structure l0, this dressing table 3l being constructed of a single length of wire which is formed in substantially rectangular configuration, and a flexible table top or supporting member 32 is stretched within the wire frame, the marginal edges of the table top 32 being folded or looped over the wire frame and sewed to the top 32'by means of stitching or the like. This wire frame comprises a forward or front bar 33, a rear bar 34 and end bars 35, all of which are integrally formed with each other. rlhis front bar 33 is provided at substantially the center thereof with an offset loop or handle structure 36 and the rear bar 34 is provided at substantially the center thereof with a loop 37 which constitues a stop member, the purpose for which will be hereinafter described.

At the junction between the front and rear bars 33 and 34, respectively with the end bars 35, there is provided. downwardly7 and upwardly offset leg` 33 of substantially l-shaped construction, one portion of member 33 being disposed at substantially right angles to the front and side members, and the opposite leg being disposed in parallel relation thereto.

By forming 'the wire frame as hereinbefore described the end members are adapted to be dispose-1 etween the odset portions 27 of the rear rack 23 and when the device is used for bathing the child, the table structure 3l is positioned in inoperative position at the rear of the frame l0, beingl held in substantially vertically disposed and depend ing position by means of the portions 33 at the forward edge of the wire frame and by means of the offset handle 3G.

When it is desired to use the table structure 31, the handle 36 may be grasped and the table s ucture lifted upwardly to the limit permit ed by the stop 37 and the rear end members 33. llfhen the table structure 3l is resting on the upper braces l5 and l5 of the frame l0, the handle 36, together with the forward offset members 33, will cooperate with the rear stop member 3'? and the rear offset leg members 33 in preventing lateral movement of the table structure on the frame l0. Longitudinalv movement of the table structure ol is prevented by means of t ie ofl set portions 27 of the article rack 23.

In order to prevent a child or the like from rolling oil of the table 3l, I have provided a flexible securing member 39 which is provided with spaced loops 40 through which the arms of the child are adapted to be projected L the and one end of the flexible securing member 39 is secured to the table structure 3l, as at 4l, while the opposite end is provided with a strap 42 ha ving a buckle 43 attached thereto for engagement Vith a. strap 44 carried by the table structure 3l. ln this manner, the securing member 39 may be tightened on the chest of the child so as to provide means whereby the child may be prevented from rolling` off of the table structure, but at the same time permitted to have the free use of the limbs, and the child may also be partially dressed while secured. within the securing structure 39.

lt will be obvious, from the foregoing, that relatively simple and light structure has een disclosed which may be used for a bath b for bathing an infant, and it may also be used for dressing` of the infant.

This combination tub and dressing table may be folded so as to provide an exceedingly small package which will not only facilitate transportation of the device from the manufacturer to the seller and at the same time reduce the cost of freight on the article, but the device will occupy only a relatively small amount of space in a home.

lt. is, of course, understood that various changes and modications n .ay be made in the details of construction and design of the above specifically described embodiment of this invention without departing from the spirit thereof, such changes and modifications being restricted only by the scope of the following claim.
