HAROLD L. CALDWELL AND MARCUS A. CALDWELL, OF COLUMBUS, OHIO, ASSIGNORS T0 TIE-IE CALDWELL MANUFACTURING COMPANY, OF COLUMBUS, OHIO, A COREORA- TION OF OHIO.
INFANTS DRESSING TABLE.
Application filed June 20, 1924. Serial No. 721,327.
This invention relates to the type of table shown in our application for patent filed September 14, 1928, S. No. 662,628.
The object of the invention is to provide an improved table of the kind indicated which shall be of simple and inexpensive form, the parts of which are adapted to be folded or nested together so as to be convenient for storing and transportation; a further so that its top can be removed and washed for reuse. invention will appear from the disclosure herein.
The invention is embodied in the example herein shown and described, the features of novelty being finally claimed.
In the accompanying drawing Figure 1 is a perspective view of the table with a portion of the top broken out. V
Fig. 2 is a view of the same when folded.
Fig. 3 is a detail in perspective showing the means for supporting the forward end of the table top.
In the views 5 and 6 designate two pairs of legs, each constituting a leg frame, these being hinged together at their middle in parallel and folding relation. The oharacter 7 designates a top or frame of rigid rectangular form the same being hinged at two of its corners between the rear upper ends of the legs 5 so as to be capable of being swung to a position between said legs.
The side members of the table top frame 7 are extended forward beyond the front cross bar thereof and have secured between them a towel rack 8 the ends of which pro 'trude beyond the outer faces of the side member of the table frame in the form of pins 8*.
The upper ends of the leg frame 6 are provided with small brackets 9 having upwardly opening seats 9 extended inward beyond the sides of the legs and in position to receive pins 8*. The legs 6 are provided at their rear sides with a connecting brace rod 6 that serves also as a stop to limit the angular or opening movements of the leg frames. Said leg frame 6 is also provided between the upper ends of its legs with a cross piece 6 adapted to brace the frame at that point. In the instance of our former device the towel rack braced the top of the corresponding leg frame.
Further objects of the- 10 designates the table top which consists of a flexible member preferably of-canvas, ducking or other suitable material and the same is provided with snap buttons 13 of the glove fastener type adapted to engage cooperating members as at 18" on the front and rear rails of the table frame. When the flexible table top becomes soiled it is easily and quickly removed for washing it.
The rod 8 not only affords a rack for towels, wash cloths and the like but it can also be provided with a device 12 containing pockets for the reception of soap, a brush and other toilet articles. This device 12 can be removed for cleaning by first removing the towel rack. 7
When the parts are combined as herein particularly shown the leg frames and table top can be folded to all he in one plane. To do this the table top frame is first lifted off the seats 9 and then turned downward into position between the membersof the leg frame 5 to coincide therewith after which the leg frame 6 is folded into coincidence with the leg frame 5. noted that the projecting ends 8 of the towel rack by their contact with the inner leg frame hold the table at its lower end in proper position when the structure is folded as shown in Fig. 2. When so folded the structure occupies the minimum of space either in storage or transportation.
The forms of the parts can be changed without departing from the gist of the invention as claimed.
What we claim is:
1. A dressing table including, in combination, a pair of folding leg frames hinged together in cross relation, a rigid rectangular table top-frame having forwardly projecting side members, said table top frame hinged at its rear endsto the upper ends of one of said leg frames, a towel rack bar secured between said forwardly projecting side members of the table top frame and extending beyond the side of said forwardly projecting side members in the form of pins, and supporting bearings at the upperend of the other leg frame to removably receive said pins.
2. A dressing table including, in combination, two pairs of leg frames hinged together in cross folding relation, a rigid rec- It may be tangular table-top frame hinged at its rear end to the upper ends of one of said leg frames, said table-top frame having side members projecting forwardly beyond the table-top frame proper, a towel rack bar secured between said table-top projections, 1
supporting pins extending laterally from said projections of the table top frame, supporting brackets on the other leg frame to removably receive said pins to sustain the forwardend of said table-top frame When in horizontal position.
