This invention relates to a desk calendar wherein it is desired to provide a desk utility having a particular use as a calendar to indicate the date and one which can be operated 5 so that it will indicate each day separately and at the same time disclose and display an cpigram.

The invention includes means associated with the days of the month, and made possible by using the back of the sheets indicating each day, for the epigrams. In this manner a condensed article is provided.

lVhen made up in the desired manner it provides an attractive article of a desirable nature. It is obvious, however, that it may be used as a wall calendar when made in larger dimensions.

A feature of the invention resides in providing a small proportioned article to inclicate in a large prominent figure the day of the month, also means for indicating the particular day and the month of the year.

My invention includes means for enclosing sheets of the calendar supported in a manner so that the back of the same is displayed through an opening in a hinged frame which conceals the sheets before they are turned down in position to indicate the particular day of the month. This is an important feature of my invention.

The invention also includes means for pro-- riding a supporting easel arm which is removable and which can be made to lie flat against the back when the calendar is shipped or packed away.

These features, together with other objects and details of construction will be more fully and extensively set forth in the, specification and claims.

The body of the calendar 10 is made of sheet material such as metal or other suitable material of a still nature so as to provide an upright hack portion. 011 the body 10 I provide a pair of loops 11 which are riveted at 1.92. to the back 10. The particular shape of the loops 11 with the angular-1y disposed sides provide means for holding the daily sieo'ts 16 which make up the days of the month of the calendarA. An opening is formed in the cover B through which the back surface 20 of the sheets 16 is clearly visible and by this opening or window in the cover B I provide a means for displaying the back of each of the card sheets 16 so that the epigrams 26, or other suitable display on the back faces 20, is clearly. visible at the time the face 18 of each of the sheets is visible directly below the cover B and held depending from the loops "11. The lower portion of the cover B is free to be lifted as illustrated in Figure 2 so that the sheets 16 may be turned on the loops 11 andpermitted to depend into the position illustrated to indicate the day of the month.

Ordinarily, my calendar A is provided with a supporting leg 27 which is removably attached to the loop 28 formed in the back 10 and provided with a detent 29 which is adapted to engage in the recess 30 formed in the tongue 31 of the leg 27 so as to lock the tongue 31 under the loop 28.: A foot portion .32 is formed onthe end of the leg 27 opposite to the tongue 31. i

Thcback 10 is provided with openings 35 and 36 which are adapted to be positioned on either side of the display position of the cards 16 when in position to indicate the day of the month. The opening 35 is adapted to expose a portion of a disk 37, while the open ing.36 exposes a portion of the disk 38. The

--disks 37 and 38 are pivotally secured to the back 10 with a portion of each disk overlapping at the center and the outer edges oi each disk being exposed at 40 to provide a hand engaging edge so that the disks can be rotated: The opening 35 is adapted to expose the days of the week individually, the disk 37 having'printed thereon each day of the weekso that as the disk is rotated it e):- poses the day through the opening 35. In

the same manner the disk 38 is adapted to disclose the month of the year through the opening. 36.

In this'manner I provide a calendar hav ing features of a desirable nature, permitting sheets of the calendar to have a dual function and protecting the sheets by means which virtually forms a frame adapted to covertheedges of the sheets and the sheet holding means so that when the calendar is in use it has a neat, attractive appearance. The construction is simple and the calendar can be set up on a desk or it may be hung up on the wall. When used as a desk utility it may be made of such dimensions as to have a convenient size, yct permit a very large numeral to indicate the day of the month. The cpigrams associated with each day are constant reminders to the individual using the calendar, and stimulate the appeal of the calendar to customers.

In accordance with the patent st atutes. I have described the principles of operation of my calendar, together with the best embodiment thereof, and while I have illustrated a particular construction and formation of the same in the drawings I desire to have it understood that the same are only suggestive of a means for carrying out my invention and that the same can be applied to uses other than those above set forth, within the scope of the following claims.

I claim:

1. A calendar having a back formed of sheet material, a pair of cars struck up from said back, a cover hingcdly supported by said ears lnrving, three sides extending therefrom and having an opening formed in one of said sides, a series of cards adapted to indicate the days of the month supported bcneath said cover in a manner so as to extend from the open side of said cover or to be enclosed beneath said cover to conceal the same and a removable supper-tin; bracket for said calendar.

2. A calendar, a back, a removable brzukct member, a frame cover, a series of sheets adapted to indicate the days 01 the month concealed beneath said cover before the) are desired for use, an opening in said frame to permit said sheets to depend from said cover to indicate the day of the month, indicating disks and openings in said back adapted to indicate the day ot' the week and the month of the year from said disks.

3. A calendar including a series of card sheetsadapted to indicate the days of the month, a cover frame hingedly supported in a manner to conceal the sheets before thcv are desired for use, an opening formed in said cover to expose the back of the sheets and supporting means for said sheets concealed beneath said cover and adapted to permit the sheets to depend from the open side of said cover when in use.
