'1 p ,Q v v This invent-ion relates to that class of prlnt-r ing presses in which, on account of the lack of floor space or for other reasons, the press is placed ontop of one of the usual units, forming an-upper deck. v
Theprincipal object of the inventionisto provide means for feeding thefwebto the upper deck and from that to'thej -fold1ng mechanism, without encountering the difii: culties that have structions. Thes'edifiiculties were due to the fact that the web had to be carried to the upper deck from a lev'el below the lower decks,
and from the furthermost point 01": the units placed on the floor. I provide a more direct pathfor the web from the supply roll to the upper deck;

For the-purpose of solving these difficulties I'have provided a. novel-arrangement .for; r

a It will be understood of course that, although I have illustrated and described only a single type ofpress, this invention. is independent of any particular type of newserally in the newspaper industry. Although I have illustrated and described only one form of the invention I am aware of the fact that modifications can be made therein by any person skilled in the art Without de I parting from the scope of the invention as expressed in the claims.
Therefore, I do not wish to be limited to i the details of construction herein shown and described, but what I do claim is Y 1. In a newspaper printing. machine, the combination with a lower deck consisting of plurality of units and an'upper deck having means for receiving a web, printing it, and delivering it to a folding mechanism, the printing couples of the two decks being arranged parallel of a websupply device for the upper deck delivering aweb thereto in V 'avplane, which; at the web supply, is substan- 'tially at right angles tof-the plane at which the webs aredeliveredto the units of the lower deck, and means associated with the upper deck for turning the web torun in a direction paralleltoithe path of the webs from the lower deck intothe folding mechanism. g a 2. In a newspaper printing machine, the combination with a lowerdeck and an upper deck, ofa support having a web roll for i supplying the upper deck located at the end "of oneof the press unitsqand at a levelbelow it and delivering the web ina-direction transverse to, the direction in-which the webs are delivered-tothe units'offtheclower deck, in a path locatedbeyond the end of one of the lower decks from below said lowerdeck to i l the upper deck. c p 7 the top of thatlower deck, and turning bars between the uppjer and lower decks for turning'said webinto a path parallel with and above the web paths of the lower decks into Intestimonywhereof have hereunto affixed my' signature.
