The object of the present invention is to provide a simple and eective means for storing deposit slips or vouchers used in Christmas Club savings accounts, such means eliminating much bookkeeping and simplifying bank operations, while maintaining a complete and veryv readily accessible record and check upon each account.
In the drawings: Figure 1 is a perspective View of a filing cabinet embodying the present invention.
Figure 2 is a perspective view of one of the unit containers.
^ Figure 3 is a vertical side view thereof.
Figure 4 isa horizontal sectional view on the linee-4 of Figure 3.
Figure 5 is a plan view of the blank from.
' The containers are of box-like form, and located in rows, so that they can be turned from Y a rearwardly to a forwardly inclinedposition, as will be evident. Each of the containers is preferably made of a sheet of relatively heavy paper, and comprises a rear wall 12, a front wall V18, a side wall 14, and a bottom 15. The side opposite the side wall 14: is preferably open, as is also the top. The rear Wall extends well above the front wall, forming an identifying tab 16 which may be suitably numbered as indicated at 17, and ruled as at 18 to receive the name and address of the depositor. vThe front wall 13 has the portion adjacent to the open side cut away as shown at 19, this cut-away portion extending to a point in proximity toI the bottom 15 and leaving a small upstanding retaining iange 20, At its upper corner it is further cut away as shown at 21.
` The records to be filed inthiscabinetare prefer-ably the deposit slips for -^,Gli`ristma`s Club'savings andthe'like. -Asillustrated in Figure 7,'fthe depositoris provided'rwith la f book 22V of detachable slips or couponsfeach, 1".) 1
carrying ai-'sp'eciiicy numberz23 and each' being numberedy successively :as illustrated Vat 24,-
these two latter numbers :being on the 'upper endsiof the :slips or leaves.. rl-he `amountfto befpaid at ipredeterminetliiperiods is show-n at 25,'fand the total amount [paid to :the ,day v i offf'feaclrperiod. is illustrated at 26.. It will befobser'ved that these amountsg25aand' 26 are located on ftheiright-'handside of reach .slip and thatazblank space 27 is providedfat 'thelefthand-:to receive `:the Vsaid .stamp acknowledging that all previous payments have bee'namadeA` as illustrated at 28'5in Figure l7 @Inf utilizing the structure lconstitutin-g the invention, when Ia depositor makes 'a paymentythe slipfornleafffor that payment is detached fronithe kbook 22 and the vsucceedingileaf'is'then stampedv as shown at .-28. The 1 depositor passes' to 'the receivingztellerl ,the Y detached slip with the payment made. 'llhev receiving jteller has only to locate .thea particularfcoiitainer andplacertherein the deposit slip* As these slips accumulate each therefore has the complete records of all deposits made and which have been stamped. The depositor 'on the other hand retains the book and on the outer 'sheet or slip thereof is shown the receiptstamp. Obviously the various y accounts can be quickly ascertained by reason of theupstandingtabs 16 and Vany one account can beeasily determined because the outermost sheet has suiiicient of `the data thereon exposed toshow the amount of the.
last payment. The open side and end of the 4container permits the ready insertion of the slips and the front open portion not only exposes the `payments made, but it permits the upper right-hand corners to be turned back so that each successive numbering 24 on the slips can be quickly determined.
rThe same apparatusy is usable for various types of accounts. Thus in v Figure 6 there is shown a modified form of leaf in which selective amounts 29 can be determined by punch- K ing at appropriately indicated points 30 any one or more selected sums to be periodically paid. As will be noted by reference to Figure 6 the cut-away portion 19 of the container eX- poses not only' the various amounts but those selected by punching as at 31. v
From the foregoing, it is thought that the construction, operation and many advantages. of the herein described invention will be apf parent to those skilled in the art without further description and it will be understood that various changes in the size, shape, proportion and minor details of construction may be resorted to without departing from the spirit or sacrificing any of the advantages of the invention. n
Vhat I claim, is: Y Y
l. A filing vcabinet of the character set forth, comprising a casing, a drawer therein, and a row of boX-like containers located in the drawer and adapted to be tilted between a forward and rearwardinclination therein,
each of said containers consisting of a box-V lilre structure for receivingra plurality of slips and having a bottom, a front wall and one side wall, the other side being open and the front wall at the open side being eut' i away to a point in proximity to the bottom,
the top. of each container being open and the rear wall extending to a point above the front wall, forming an identifying tab.
2.v A filingv cabinet `of the characterV set forth, comprising aholder and a plurality of card containers mo'vably mounted therein and each having an open top, Va rear wall and a front wall that is shorter than the rear wall and is also cut away along .one side to a point in proximity to the bottom, said rear wall and front wall being connected at the side opposite to that side of the front wall which is cut away.
In testimony whereof, I affix my signature.
