This invention relates to gloves of all kinds and classes including gauntlets, work gloves and the like; and the object of the invention is to provide a predetermined section or area of the glove with a pocket structure into which small articles, packages, change and the likemay be placed for convenient and accessible use without removing the gloves from the hand; a further object being to provide a pocket, which is formed partially from one wall of the glove; a further object being to provide means for closing the open end of the pocket tensionally or by a positive closure device; and with these and other objects in View, the invention consists in a structure of the class and for the purpose specified, which is simple in construction, eflicient in use, and which is constructed as hereinafter described and claimed.

The invention is fully disclosed in the following specification, of which the accompanying drawing forms a part, in which the separate parts of my improvement are designated by suitable reference characters in each of the views, and in which Fig. 1 is a plan view of the palm portion of a glove showing one form of my improved pocket construction.

In the accompanying drawing, I have shown a few methods of carrying my inven- D'tion into effect, and in referring to a glove or gloves throughout the specification and claims, it will be understood that a hand covering body or member of any kind or class is included, and members of this kind may be made from any suitable material such for example as leather, rubber, canvas and other fabrics. In the several views of the drawing, the reference character a represents the glove or a part of the glove.

In Figs. 1 to 3 inclusive, I have shown one of my improved pockets formed in the palm portion of the glove. This pocket is fashioned by cutting the palm portion,of the glove transversely to form an opening 12, and securing a pocket forming member or sheet 13 to one side edge of the opening and to the palm ortion' ofthe glove on a line or lines of stitchmg as at'14, forming between the sheet 13 in the part a of the palm of the glove, a pocket 15, the dimensions of which are bounded by the stitching 14 and the open end 12 of the pocket. The flap 16 of the portion a formed by the opening 12 is reinforced in any desirable manner, and one member 17 of a snap fastener device is secured thereto in position to engage the other member 18 of said device, the latter being secured to the pocket forming sheet 13, as clearly seen in Fig. 3 of the drawing. I also preferably in clude in conjunction with the member 17 and flap 16, a finger piece strap 19 which facilitates the opening of the pocket and raising of the flap to remove articles from the pocket 15.

In Figs. 4 and 5 of the drawing, I have shown a pocket formed in a glove substantially in the same manner as shown in Fi s. 1 to 3 inclusive. In these figures, there erence numeral 12 represents the open end of the pocket, 13 the sheet secured to the glove on the line of stitchings 14 to form the pocket '15. In this construction, the flap 16 instead of being provided with the snap fastening member 17 is provided at its free edge with a reinforced portion 20, in which an elastic or other resilient member 21 is mounted, serving to tensionally close the pocket opening at 12 to retain articles in the pocket 15*, eliminating the necessity of using the fastening devices, and also facilitating the expansion of the flap 16 in inserting a finger into the pocket, as will be apparent.

In Figs. 6 and 7 of the drawing, I have shown a sheet 22, secured to the glove structure and equivalent in all respects to the sheet 13 13 in the structure shown in Figs. 1 to 5 inclusive, with the exception that it does not constitute the wall of the pocket proper. In this construction, the pocket wall is formed by a member 23 secured to the inner face of the portion a of the glove where the ocket is located. The free end 23 of the mem er 23 forms the open end portion of the pocket, which is accessible only in turning the part a backwardl u n the glove structure on the line of stltehmg at 24, thus exposing the ocket in the part a which is of course free rom the glove structure at its sides and unattached end. The latter end carries one part 25 of a snap fastener, the other part 26 being secured to the body of the glove. In other words, in this construction, the sheet 22 mere- 1y forms a closure for the opening formed in the glove by cutting the part a therefrom.

From the foregoing, it will be apparent that the distinctive feature of my invention resides in the provision of a container or pocket integral with or constituting a unit part of a glove, and by means of which a small amount of money or comparatively small articles or trinkets may be carried about in a convenient, practical and accessible manner, and especially in providing a pocket in the palm portion of the glove. With a structure of this character, it will be apparent that articles may be removed from the pocket or container, without removing the glove from either hand.

While I have shown certain details of construction for carrying in invention into effect, it will be understoo that I am not necessarily limited to these details, and various changes therein and modifications thereof may be made within the scope of the appended claims, without departing from the spirit of my invention or sacrificing its advantages.

Having fully described my invention, what I claim as new and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is:

1. A glove, one part of which is fashioned to form a flap integral with the glove part alon one side edge only thereof, a member secu to said glove art to close the opening formed therein by t e removal of said flap, and a pocket formed in the wall structure of the flap outwardly of its attached side edge and accessible when the flap is in an extended position with reference to the glove structure.

2.
