- THOMAS J. PILLIOD, OF SWANTON, OHIO.
CABINET.
Application led November 19, 1926. Serial No. 149,429.
My invention consists in a new and useful improvement in cabinets and is designed to provide a cabinet adapted to contain all of the requisites for a game of auction bridge for four or more players. The particularly novel and useful feature of my device is the construction of the interior of the cabinet to provide suitable receptacles for the various articles of equipment required by the players. The parts of the cabinet are so designed and related as to afford ample facilities for packing all the `game requirements in a very handyl and attractive way. The special advantage of my improved cabinet is that a hostess, entertaining players for one or more table of auction bridge, may place a single cabinet upon each table, assured that when the cabinet has been properly packed the players at each table are provided with all the requisite equipment for the game, so that no embarrassment will be occasioned by any omission of any part of the equipment.
Referring to the drawings:A
Fig. 1 is al front elevation with the lid open.
Fig. 2 is a plan view of Fig. 1.
Fig. 3 is a longitudinal section of my` gaming case, with the lid closed.
Fig. 4 is a cross-section of my device, with the lid closed.
Referring more particularly to the drawings, 1 represents the body portion of the case, composed of the side walls la, 1a and the end walls 1", 1b, with the lid 2 and the bottom 3. The lid 2 isy provided with a strap 4 for resiliently holding auction bridge tally cards 5 and score pads 6. Hinges are denoted by 7 and a cloth or other suitable material is provided and adapted to serve as a cover check 8 to hold the lid in a predetermined relation to the body portion 1 when the lid is opened. A filler element 9r is disposed adjacent each of the end walls 1b, 1b of the-case, and extends between the side Walls la, 1a. These filler elements 9 are composed, respectively, of two side walls 10 and two end blocks 11 therebetween. The end blocks 11, are provided respectively with bores 12 adapted to receive pencils 13 therein with strings 13a attached to each.
The walls 10 and blocks 11 of each of these elements 9 are so designed and related -as to form a compartment 14 in each element 9 which is suitable for containing a case for a deck of auction bridge cards 15.
The filler elements'9 serve to form a compartment-l which is of suitable dimensions for containing a box of candy 17.
It will be noted that the pencils 13, cases forcard decks 15 and candy box 17 extend above their respective compartments 12, 14, and 16, thus making it easy to extractthem from their normal position in the case.
A name plate 18 and ornamental straps 19 and handles 20 and lock clasp 21 are provided forbeauty and service.
The inner faces of the lid 2 and bottom 3 are provided with resilient paddings 22, and 23, respectively, thus forming two cushion bodies between which the candy box 17, tally cards 5 with their strings 5a and the score pads 6 are resiliently held when the lid 2 is closed. l
It will be understood that I do not limit my invention to the precise structure shown and described as it is apparent to anyone skilled inthe art that I may make changes and alterations as fairly come within the scope of the appended claims.
Having described my invention, what I claim as new and desire to secure by Letters Patent is 1. In a cabinet, the combination of four walls; and filler elements, each adjacent one of two of the walls and extending between the other two walls, and provided with a cavity adapted to receive a deck of playing cards, and also provided with bores adapted to receive pencils therein, the disposition of the .said filler elements relative to the walls being such that there is provided a central receptacle adapted to receive a candy box therein.
2. In a cabinet, the combination of two side walls and two end walls; and a filler element, adjacent each end wall and extending between said side walls, comprising two side walls and two end blocks, the side walls and end blocks of each filler element being so disposed as to provide a receptacle adapted to contain a deck of playing cards, each of said end blocks being provided with a Abore adapted to receive a pencil therein.
sov
3. In a Cabinet, the combination of a body portion comprising a receptacle; a cover comprising a receptacle; a resilient padding applied to the bottom of the body portion;
a second resilient padding applied to the coveryand means for retaining articles in the cover, the parts being so proportioned and related that the two resilient padding's are adapted to co-aot with the articles in the cover to firmly hold a container placed in 10 the receptacle in the body portion.
In testimony that. I claim the foregoing as my own, I affix my Signature.
THOMAS J. PILLIOD.
