Be it known that I, JOHN B. DYE, a citizen of the United States, residing at Hardesty, in the county of Texas and State of Oklahoma, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Trunks, of which the following, is a specification.

This invention relates to trunks, and more particularly to display trunks, especially adapted for news-agents and the like.

The object of my invention is to construct a trunk which is especially adapted for news-agents where it is desirable to display the goods and `quickly to pack and check them up.

The embodiment of the invention herein disclosed includes a trunk body 1, provided at one end thereof with an air-space 2. The upper portion of the body'of the trunk is' provided with a plurality of tills 3 3, beneath. which is a storage .space L The cover 5 of the trunk is detachably hinged, as at 6, to the body of the trunk, being provided at the opposite end with a clasp 7 adapted to engage the loop 8 for securing the cover in place. Detachably secured to the lower edge of the cover is a lid 9,' provided along its edges with suitable fastening means 10-10. The lid 9 serves to form a compartment of the cover when closed.

In the modified form shown in Fig.` l1, there is arranged at each'end of the body portion air-spaces 11-11, openings 12 in the ends permitting free circulation of air. To preserve perishable goods, I preferably provide an ice compartment 12, and an icecontainer 13, the compartment 12 preferably beino' provided with a hinged cover 14. If desirazble, however, the ice container may be dispensed with, and the compartment 12 provided with a faucet (not shown) for draining the compartment. An additional air space 1.5 is provided on the inside of the compartment 12. The numeral 16 indicates a till arranged between the air .space at one end of the trunk and the intermediate air space 15.

It will thus be seen that I have so constructed the trunk that it may be openedY quickly for displaying the contents thereof, and, if desirable, the cover may be removed entirely, and the lid thereof removed for displaying the goods contained in the cover; and, furthermore, a trunk which is adaptedl for use in connection with perishable goods, such as fruit-,when used by news-agents.

I claim:

1. A trunk including a body portion having a storage space in the lower portion thereof and extending throughout a portion of the length of the body portion, a tray arranged within the upper part of the body portion above and forming a cover for the storage space, said body portion having an air space at an end thereof extending throughout the width and height of said75 body portion and having; a plurality of air inlets thereinto, a display cover connected With the body portion and having a compartment therein, and a lid for closing said compartment.

2. A trunk including a body portion having a storage space in the lower portion thereof and extending throughout a portion of the length of the body portion, trays arranged within the upper part of the body portion above and forming a cover for the storage space, said body portion having an air space at an end thereof extending throughout the width and height of said body portion and having a plurality of air inlets thereinto for admitting air about the storage space and trays, a display cover detachably connected with said body portion and having a compartment therein, and a lid detachably connected with the .sides of said cover for closing the compartment therein.
