l/Vith the foregoing and other objects in view which will appear as the description proceeds, the invention resides in the combination andarrangement of partsand in the details of construction hereinafter described and claimed, it being understood that changes in the precise embodiment of the invention herein disclosed, may be made within the scope of what is claimed, without departing from the spirit of the invention,

Referring to the drawings in detail, the referencecharacter 5 designates gate posts at the opposite sides of the roadway, and as shown, one of these gate posts is substantially long and extends an appreciable distance above the other gate post as at 6.
These posts 5 are connected by means of the bar 7 which not only acts as a means for holding the posts in proper spaced relation with each other, but at the same time provides means for supporting the actuating lever indicated by the numeral 8 and to be hereinafter more fully described.
The gate includes gate sections of the sliding type and are indicated generally by the numeral 9, each gate section including uprights 10 that are connected at their upper ends by means of the bar 11, there being provided brackets 12 secured to the bar and up rights which brackets support the rollers 13 that move along the pivoted track sections 14.

Thus it willbe seen that it is the purpose of the inventionjto move thetrack sect ons tdeleVateone of the respective ends thereof to cause the gate sections to gravitate to the lower endsot' the track section to either open or close the gate.
At the inner ends of thetrack sections 14 are rods 17 that have their u per extremities connected with one end o the actuating lever 8 as at 18,,the opposite end of. the lever having connection with the control cables that transmit movement from the road operating lcver or titeadle,.to the actinated lever 8 to operate the gate sections,
These cables are; arranged in pairs at op osite sides the gate,t1 1 ere being pro vic ed a cable IQthat connects with the upper edge of the actuatedlever so that when this cable 19 pulled, the actuated lever will be elevated at its outer end, lowering the inner end of the actuated lever to cause the track sections to tilt inwardly causing the gates to close.
As shown,]each cable 19 operates over a pulley 20 from where it passes over the pulley 21 and over the pulley 22, from Where it passes downwardly over pulley 23 and connects with one side of the segment Ql associated therewith. 6
Each cable 25 connects with the lower side of the actuating lever as shown by Figure 1 and passesover the pulley 26 from where it passes rearwardly over the pulley 27 and downwardly over the pulley 2e where it connects with the segment 24. It will of course be obvious that this mecha nism is duplicated on the opposite side ot the gate, there being provided control cables and an actuating means identi cal with that described, so that the gates may be operated from either side.
The treadle at each side of the gate is 1 indicated at 29 and is mounted on a shaft over, the weight of the vehicle acting to force the treadle 29 downwardly to operate the cables as described. I
Connected with each shaft 30 is a vertical lever 32 that operates between the bar -32) and segment associated therewith. The bar 33 has right angled ends'33 that are secured to the segment associated therewith to hold the bar in spaced relation with the segment. It will be seen that due to this construction, the lever will contact with one of the ends 33 to move the segment.
Connected with each lever 32 is a cable 3st that operates over the pulleys 35 and 3f]. the free end of the cable being supplied with a weight 37 and a. coiled spring 38 to normally hold the lever and treadle 29 in their upright positions. A frame work embodying posts 39 and d0 act as supports for the various pulleys and operatingmechanism.
Thus it will be seen that should a vehicle pass over a treadle 29 at one side, of the gate, the treadle will be moved downwardly causing a pull to be exerted on the cable 25 which in turn will act to lower the outer extremity of the actuating lever.
As the outer end of the actuating lever is lowered, the inner end thereof is elevated, causing the inner ends of the track sections 14 to be elevated and resulting in an out ward sliding movement being directed to the gate sections for opening'the gates.
As the vehicle passes through the opening, the vehicle will contact with the treadle at the opposite side of the gate, which will operate to elevate the outer end of the actuating lever and causing a downward movement to be imparted to the inner ends of the track sections 14, with the result that the gate sections will gravitate to their closed positions.
I claim:
1. A gate construction including gate posts supported at opposite sides of a road way, pivoted track sections mounted on the gate posts, gate sections movable over the track sections and adapted to gravitate to the lower ends of the track sections. when the track sections are tilted, an actuating lever supported above the track sections, rods connecting one end of the actuating lever and the inner ends of the track sections, cables connected with the actuating lever, and vehicle controlled means operating in the roadway for moving the cables to tilt the track sections.
2. A gate construction including gate posts supported at opposite sides or a roadway, track sections pivotally connected to the gate posts at points intermediate the ends of the track sect-ions, gate sections movable on the track sections and adapted to gravitate to the lower ends of the track sections, an actuating lever supported above the track sections, means for .in'iparting movement of the actuating lever to the track sections to tilt the track sections, op-- crating cables connected with the lever for operating the lever, a treadle in the road surface and connected with the cables for moving the cables bythe weight of a vehicle passing thereover.
