This invention relates to sanitary appara-v tus, and particularly to bed.-pan washers, such as are used inhospitals where there are a large number of suchv articles to .wash each. day. r I l v r i Theaobject ofthis invention is to provide bed pan-washer in which abedpan can"- be placed and then by. closing the, door the bed-pan will be: emptiedpand washed Inv carryingoutthis invention acha'mber is provided having therein a'tilting holder, upon which-a bed-pan is placedz and secured, and which when the door is closediscau'sed to swing intothe chamber, and tip. overand water is caused to be injected intothe pan, and the contents thoroughly .wasliedzoutoand into the sewer with which the chamberzis connectedmnd when the bed-pan isemptied, the door is opened. swingingthe holderback up, and thecleansed pan isremoved. I
The features of. this invention, are hereafter fully explained and, pointedout, and are illustrated inthe accompanyingdrawings in which: I 7
Figure 1 is a front elevation'of-ithis. invention, with the door open, and the..b.edpan holder 1 in Figure 2 is avertical central 'sectionsof thechamber, with the holder in. elevation. therein.

The link bar-Cis secured'to an ear on the under side of the holder frame D shown in broken lines in Fig. 3; At each side of the holder D is a bell-crank lever D one endof which is hinged to the inner surface of the chamber A by means of a pivot, 65, and the other end thereof is pivoted to the holder by means of a pivot d, and from .the angle of the bell-crank lever D, a link on,.the,door. FAQ
a Sloan valve J is preferably-pro- Figs. 1 and 3, an adapter J bevided, see
which carries a trigger J ing provided,
which extends through the wall ofthe chamber A into the line of the travel of the member K secured to the swinging lever Hon the bed-pan frame D, so that when the holder D is folded into the chamber in the position thereof shown by broken lines in Fig. 2 the member K will engage the trigger J and trip the valve J allowing water to rush through the pipes L to the spray nozzle L see Fig. 2.
From the foregoing it will be evident that unless a bed-pan is first placed on the holder frame D the member K will not engage the trigger J of the valve and nowater will flow through the jet nozzle L when the door A is closed.
Having thus fully shown and described this invention so that others can utilize the same, I do not desire to be limited to the exact mechanism shown, as many modifica tions can be made therein without departing from the scope of this invention, but what I claim as new and desire to secure by Letters Patent is:
1. In a bed-pan washing apparatus, the combination of a hollow box-like structure having an opening in one side thereof, a door hinged at one edge of said opening and adapted to close said opening, a holder frame hinged to said box-like structure, and to said door, whereby when said door is closed said holder frame is folded'into said box, a jet spray adaptedto direct a jet of water against frame, means to secure a bed-pan on said holder, and a valve mechanism adapted to be tripped by said holder when a pan is secured thereon and ity is folded into said box, whereby said pan will be cleansed.
, 2, The combination in a bed-pan washing mechanism, of a hollow receptacle, having an opening through the front thereof, a door to close said opening, a bell-crank lever pivoted to the inside of said receptacle adjacent to each side of said opening, and bars pivoted to said door and to each of said bell-crank levers, a bed-pan holder frame pivoted in said opening receptacle.
the upper side of said holder between I said levers,
and to said receptacle, means to secure a bed-pan on sald frame, valve tripping means adapted to be moved laterally when a pan isin place on said frame, and a valve mecha-' nism adapted to be tripped by said tripping means when said door is closed and said frame and pan thereon is 3, The combination in a bed-pan washing apparatus, areceptacle having an opening in thefro-nt side thereof, a bell-crank lever pivoted in said receptacle with one arm thereof projecting outward through said opening at each side thereof, and bars pivoted to said door and to each of said bell-crank levers, between'said'bell-crank levers within said opening and pivoted tofleach of said levers, a link bar pivoted to said receptacle and to said holder frame, whereby said holder frame will fold into'said receptaclejwhen said door is closed, a lever pivoted to said holder frame, valve tripping means onsaid lever to engage and trip a water admission valve, when a bed-pan is'secured thereon and the door is closed, and a jet mechanism in front of said pan, a valve mechanism having a trigger projecting in tacle in the path of said valve tripping means, and means adapted to conveywater from said valve to said jet mechanism.
4:. In a bed pan' washing 'apparatus,'the combination of a hollow receptacle, a spray jet mounted within said receptacle, a valve for said jet having a trigger extending into said receptacle, a frame adapted to receive folded into said a bed-pan holder frame front of said recepand retain a bed'pan,'and means to support said frame and swing the same inward to engage said trigger to trip said valve.
' 5. In a bed pan washinga'pparatus, the
combination of a hollow receptacle, a spray jet mounted within said receptacle, avalve for said jet, a trigger extending. from said valve into said receptacle, a frame adapted to receive and retain a' bed pan thereon,
means to carry said frame and bed pan
