BULLETIN-DISPLAY FRAME.
Application filed .Tune 6, 1924. Serial N'o. 718,407.
To all to whom t may concern.'
Be it known that I, IVILLIAM H. HALL, a citizen of the United States, residing in Cicero, in the county of Cook and State of Illinois, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Bulletin-Display Frames.
rIhis invention is particularly adapted for use in the guests rooms of hotels for rdisplay of State laws and rules and regulations governing inn keepers, such matter being printed on what is termed the Bulletin card in the following description. On a separate card secured in the top of the same frame which will be termed the Title card,
may be printed the name of the hotel, name of the manager or proprietor, number of the room and the rat-es per day for one or more guests. In many States the display of such matter in the guests rooms ot hotels is required by law. y
The primary object of my invention is tol construct a frame in such manner that the bulletin card or title card or both of them may be conveniently changed without removing the frame from the wall ot' the room. In hotels having a large number of rooms this is a very important consideration,
as it is the usual custom to nail these frames to the wall or on the door of the room. Owing to changes in State laws, or other changes in the matter printed on the bulletin cards it is occasionally necessary to change the bulletin cards in a hotel, but more often it is necessary to change the title cards because of a change in the name of the manager or proprietor, or a change in the rates to be charged for different rooms, and sometimes a change in the name ot the hotel. To meet all these requirements in the most convenient and inexpensive manner possible, the frame is so constructed ythat either one or both these cards may be changed without removing the frame from the wall.
This frame may be made of any suitable material, but preferably of sheet metal and the following description is based on a construction from sheet metal.
In the drawings Fig. l is a front View of the complete trame as it appears when nailed to the wall of the room with the cards mounted therein.
Fig. 2 is a sectional view of Fig. l on the line Fig. 3 is a detailed view of a holder for the title card heretofore reterredto and is Y adapted to lit into and complete the top of? Athe frame, see Figs. 1 and 2.
The frame or body piece Fig. 1 has its two side and bottom edges, A A A turned over, forming grooves adapted to receive (it)V and retain the bulletin card, a vremovable f holder for the title card and a sheet of glass to protect the cards troni:l dirt and injury,`
, See also A in Fig. `EZ showing the approximate width and depth Cif-these grooves.v
In Fig. 2 A is the turned over edge which' forms the ybottom groove, B is thesheet ot glass, C is the title ciard, I) is the title card holder, E is the bulletin card and F is the sheet of metal or body piece 'from which the trame is formed. 1`
The side grooves of the trame are open at the top. After the frames have been nailed to the walls of the various rooms in anyl suitable manner, the bulletin cards are placed in position by sliding them into the grooves from the top. In like manner the sheet of glass is placed in position over the bulletin cva-rd. rlhis sheet of glass andthe bulletin card are cut full size of the frame.
their the bulletin cards are printed a space at the top equal in depth to the depth of the title card holder, may be left blank.
lVhen the title card holderis placed in posii tion it is slid into the open top of the side grooves of the frame in the same manner vrthe glass and bulletin card were placed, and between the bulletin card and the glass, see
top of Fig. 2, thus covering the blank space at the top ot the bulletin card and displayingthe title card under the glass, see top' otFig. l. It will be obvious that the bulletin cards maybe of any desired lengths, although it is preferably to so arrange them and the printing thereon that the two cards when arranged in the trame will appear as one. f
The wide groove A on the top edge of the holder F ig. 2 corresponding in width and depth with the grooves formed on fthe main frame, rests on the top ot the glass and gives to the trame a harmonious and Having. thus described my' invention, I
claiin:
l. A display frame comprising a body having iii-turned lateral edges forming grooves, a bulletin card having its edges disposed in said grooves, a title Cardl holder adapted to be inserted int-o the upper ends of said grooves and provided at. itsupper edge with a down-turnedtlange adaptedto" torm the upper expose-d. portion of the.
frame, and a title card carried by said holder above the exposed portion'of the bul@ letin card, said holder being removable to A.k display frame eomprisinga metalv body having itslateralandv bottom margins iii-turned J'to forni retaining' grooves. and
present the semblance of a trame structure* ,around a display bulletin disposed in said grooves, and a title. Card holder removably disposed in the upper. open ends of the lateral grooves, said holder having a downturned forward flange at itsl upper edge forming. the upper portion of the frame structure and also having an up-tui'ned flange at its'lower edge to support a title card and placev ay dividing element between the exposed portions of the bulletin card and the title card.
, 4l.. A display frame comprising a flat sheet. metal body yhaving the margins thereof in` turned atv three sides forming retaining grooves open at` onefend, a bulletin card and a glass protector therefordisposedf-in said trame and held 1n position by said 1nturned edges7 and a title card holder having" its ends removably inserted in the .upper said holder, Cards and glass being remov able through the open ends of thelateral grooves.4 l
5. A display frame' comprising; 'a flat metal body, having in-turned edges at 'thev sides and at one end, anda holder having` one edge in-turned to form the other end of the frame, said holder being removably disposed betweenthe back of the body and the in-turned sidesadjacent one end ofthe body only, said'holder being constructed to support a title card removable with the holder from said body and said frame being adapted when the. holder is inserted fully therein. to display. holder.
G. display fra-ine comprising, a flat metal body having; iii-turned edges at the sides and at one end, a holder having one edge in-turnedto forni the other end of the frame, said holder being of lesser length than the length of said body and removably disposed between the back of said body and the irl-turned` sides adjacent one end thereoi, said holder ybeing constructed tolsupport aremovable. title Card removable therewith from said body and said holder and body' forming a single continuousr frame.
