Description
Sept. 23, 1924.
L. L. MIVELAZ FINGERPRINT SHEET HOLDER Filed July 26, 1922 INVENTOR ATTORN EY WITNESS:
citizen of the United States,
Patented Sept. 23, 1924.
LEO LAWRENCE MIVELAZ,
OF MEMPHIS, TENNESSEE.
FINGERPRINT-SHEET HOLDER.
Application filed July 26,
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, LEO L. MIVELAZ, a residing at Memphis, in the county of Shelby and State of Tennessee, have invented new and useful Improvements in Fingerprint-Sheet Holders, of which the following isa specification.
This invention relates to a holder for paper sheets, the general object of the invention being to provide a holder of slightly curve shape in cross section to hold sheets of paper upon which finger prints are to be made, so that the device can be used for taking the prints of the fingers of corpses,
cripples or of persons whose fingers are stiff or of those who try to prevent the prints being taken.
Another object of the invention is to provide means. whereby a number of sheets can be placed in the holder and used one at a time, the used sheet being removed from the top of the pile.
The invention also consists in certain other features of construction and in the combination and arrangement of the several parts, to be hereinafter fully described, illustrated in the accompanying drawings and specifically pointed out in the appended claim. g
In describing my invention in detail, reference will be had to the accompanying drawings wherein like characters denote like or corresponding parts throughout the several views, and in which Figure 1 is a front view of the device.
Figure 2 is a sectional view on the line 22 of Figure 1.
Figure 3 is a sectional view on the line 3-3 of Figure 1.
Figure 4 is a view of the plate.
Figure 5 is a view of one of the sheets.
As shown in these views, the device comprises a handle 1 having an enlarged end on which is secured a flanged frame 2, the whole forming a receptacle having its outer end open and also having an opening in its front through which the fingers may be placed against the sheets in the frame. plate 3 is adapted to slide in the receptacle through its open end and this plate is provided with a pin 4 over which the sheets of paper, shown at 5, are placed so that they will be secured to the plate. The plate being 1922. Serial No. 577,655.
forms a support for a pile of sheets, each sheet being provided with a hole to receive the pin, as shown .at 6, and with a lip 7 which is separated from the body of the sheet by a perforated line 8. The frame, the enlarged end of the handle and the plate are slightly curved as shown so that the sheets are also curved. Thus the top sheet can be rolled over a stifi" finger to get the impression of the ridges thereon, so that this device will facilitate the securing of prints which are ordinarily diflicult to get. The rear of the device carries a set screw 9 for engaging the plate so as to force the same with the paper sheets thereon against the flanges of the frame and thus hold the sheets in the device by pressure. The front end or" the plate is provided with a nail receiving notch 10 so that the plate can be easily drawn from. the receptacle. The lips provide means for drawing the sheets from the device. After the sheets are removed the lips can be torn ofi' the sheets and the sheets filed away in the usual manner, after pasted on cards or the like.
This device permits the sheet of paper to be rolled over the finger instead of the finger being rolled over the sheet, thus prints of the fingers of corpses, cripples and others whose fingers are stifi", can easily be taken.
It is thought from the foregoing description that the advantages and novel features of my invention will be readily apparent.
I desire it to be understood that I may make changes in the construction and in the combination and arrangement of the several parts, provided that such changes fall with ing the scope of the appended claim.
Having thus described my invention what I claim as new, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is
A. holder for finger print sheets comprising a handle part having a receptacle formed at one end thereof. one end and the front of the receptacle being open, a plate removably arranged in the receptacle, a pin on the plate for holding the sheets thereon and a set screw at the rear of the handle part for engaging the plate to force the same with the sheets thereon against the front of the receptacle.
In testimony whereof I afiix my signature.
LEO LAWRENCE MIVELAZ.
