Description
G. FRANKLIN Sept. 16 1924.
SOAPRACK Filed March 2. 1923 Patented Sept. 16, 1924o SOAP RACK.y
Application iled March 2, 1923.r Serial No. 622,355.
To all whom t may concer/n:
Be it known that I, GRANVEL FRANKLIN, a citizen of the United States, residing at Flint, in the county of Genesee and State of Michigan, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in a Soap Rack, of which the following is a specification.
The present invention relates to a soap rack having for its principal object to provide a structure which is capable of being readily attached to bath tubs, face bowls, and like devices for supporting a cake of soap in a convenient position whereby ready access may be had thereto.
Another importantob] ect of the invention is to provide a device of this nature which will be extremely simple and efficient in construction, reliable in use, durable, inexpensive to manufacture, and well adapted to the purpose for which it is designed.
With the above and numerous other objects in view as will appear as the descrip tion progresses, the invention resides in certain novel features of construction, and the combination and arrangement of parts as will be hereinafter more fully described and claimed.
In the drawing Figure l is a perspective view of the soap rack showing the same attached to the flange of a bath tub, and
Figure 2is an elevation thereof.
Referring to the drawing in detail it will be seen that a flange l of a bath tub or bowl or any other receptacle is of the usual curved structure and is especially useful with the modification of my invention shown herewith but of course the device may be used upon numerous other shaped flanges with equal eliiciency. The soap rack proper consists preferably of a single wire formation which is bent to form a pair of spaced L-shaped memfbers 2 the lower extremities of which are connected while the upper extremities terminate in the curved extensions 3 which in turn are connected to the U-shaped members t the legs of which are disposed in approximately horizontal planes. y
The upper legs of the U-shaped members 4r terminate in the upwardly extending lips 5. When the soap rack proper is positioned on the flange as is illustrated in the drawing the soap rests upon the upper legs of the U-shaped members 4 as is indicated by gages the bottoms of the curved extensions 3 while the bottom legs of the L-shapedy members 2 rest upon theintermediate portion of the clamp. A screw member 9 is threaded through the aperture 7 being provided with a. thumb head l0. A block 1l is disposed at the other end of the screw member 9 for engagement with the inner surface of the flange l and thus by screwing tightly the screw member 9 the clamp will securely hold the soap bracket proper in place.
It is thought that the construction of the device will now be readily understood without a more detailed description thereof but it is desired to point out that numerous changes in the details of construction and in the combination and arrangement of parts may be resorted to without departing from thespirit of the invention as hereinafter claimed.
Having thus described my invention what I claim as new is :-v n
l. A soap bracket of the class described formed from a single strand of wire bent so as to form a pair of connected spaced parallel L-shaped members terminating in curved extensions and U-shaped members formed on the curved extensions so `that their legs extend substantially parallel with the lower legs of the L-shaped members.
2. A soap bracket of the class described, formed from a single strand of wire bent so as to form a pair of connected spaced parallel L-shaped members terminating in curved extensions and U-shaped members formed on the curved extensions so that their legs extend substantiallyparallel with the lower legs of the L-shaped members, the upper legs ofthe U-shaped members terminating in upwardly extending lips.
3. In combination, a soap rack formed from a. single strand of wire bent so as to provide a pair of spaced parallel connected L-shaped members concentrically arranged and terminating at their upper ends in con`- centrically arranged parallel spacedcurved sica.
extensions, U-shaped members formed on the extensions so that their legs extend substantially parallel with the lower legs o the E -shaped members7 and e clamp ineluding a, U-shaped member terminating at one end in a cross head and provided at its other terminal with a threaded aperture, a screw member inserted in said threaded aperture all in the manner und for the purpose specified. l
in' testimony Whereot' l' etti); my signe-- ture in presence of two witnesses,
GRANVEL FRANKLIN. Witnesses KoLoMoN PAPP, L. D. PAYNE.
