Be it known that WILLIAM H. GoDwIN, a citizen of the United States of America, residing at Sumner, in the county of Pierce and State of l/Vashington, has invented new and useful Improvements in Collar Buttons, of which the following is a specification.

The purpose of the invention is to provide a simple and inexpensive device of the kind mentioned to be made from sheet material and of such a form that it may function properly irrespective of the position in which it is inserted in the shirt band. A further purpose is to construct a button of the kind mentioned so that it may have an alternative use as a garment supporter particularly for waist-line garments.

The invention is illustrated and described in a specific embodiment to which, however, it is not to be restricted. The right is reserved to make such changes or alterations as the actual reduction to practice may suggest, in so far as such changes or alterations are compatible in spirit with the annexed claim.

Figure l is a perspective view of the neck portion of a shirt and its attached collar, the invention being shown as the attaching means .between the shirt neck band and the collar.

The button is made of sheet material comprising the body portion l from which the tongue 2 is struck, the latter being bent at right angles to the body portion and then bent back in substantial parallelism to the body portion to provide a bill 3. In the collar button used in the frontof the shirt, that portion of the tongue comprehended between the bill and the body portion is of suflicient length to accommodate the three thicknesses or plies that it must carry by reason of its use in the front, the bill 3 bent back toward the body portion 1 and the ter-- collar band.
