SWITCH STAND.

To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I. Or .1: D. OLIVER, a citizen of the llnited States, residing at 3855 Harrison Street, Gary, in the county ot Lake and State of Indiana, have invented new and useful Improvements .in Switch Stands, of which the following is a specilication.
-ih's invention relates to a switch stand and has for its prin'iary object the construc tion of a switch stand that will more e'tlectivcly throw the switch point and lock the same in either of its two positions. An 'objeit otthe invention the construction and a1 'angernent of parts wherein'the travel of the treadle in one direction will throw the switch point into Qlblltr o't'its two positions.
Besides the above my invention is distinguishedin the use of catch mechanism for automatically locking the switch points in either of their two positions and automaticallv releasing the same in the operation of the switch points.
With these and other objects in view, the inrention willhe. hotter understood from the following description taken in connection with the accompanying drawings.

Again referring; to the drawings illustrating one ot the many constructions of my invcntioin the numeral ldesi rnatesthe usual switch point connected by the bridle bar 2. To the bridle bar is connected the link 3 that connects to a crank carried by the shaft 5. To the upper end of the shaft is connected :1 signal light (:5 while connected to an intermediate portion is a plate 7. This plate 7 is formed with a slot 8 having oilset ends 9 and i0. Cooperating with the plate is a rod 11 carrying a pin 19. working in the slot 8. This rod 11 has pivotal connection 13 with a bell crank i l pivoted to a casing 15 as indicated at 16. The position of the bar 11, slot 10 and pin 12 is such that in the horizontal movement of the rod 11 the plate will be thrown in opposite directions for giving the proper movements to the switch point 1.

From the foregoing description taken in connection with the accompanying drawings it will'be seen that wvhcn pressure is brought hear upon the treadle 23the' rod 11 nlay be thrown forwardly 'and due to the interengaging action of the pin with either of theotfset ends 9 or 10, the plate Will be thrown to operate the shafth, which in turn throws the switch point. As soon asthe switch point has been fully thrown dog 17 moves into the proper notch for locking the mechanism. Upon the return otthetreadle in normal position the rod 11 guided through :the slot 8 to the opposite offset end to form another operation when the treadle is depressed and catch 22 is moved into ongagement with lug 21 so that when the ed the catch will release operate the switch :point.
The inner portion otthe 'treadle and associated parts are enclosed in a suitable casing 25 as illustrated. This casing is provided with a slot 26 which receives fingerfl? at the upper end of an L-s'haped locking bar 28 pivoted at its lower end at 29 to treadlo 23;:1djacent slot 24:. Tie finger is of such length as to project through the slot when the treadle is raised and is provided with an opening disposed to receive the shackle oi a suitable look 3 1-. This provides simple and etlicient means whereby the treadle can be lookedin its normal position and effectually preventstaln pering; with the switch throwing mechainsin.
It is, of course, to be understood that the locking element detachahlv fixed to said end portion to prevent movement of the 'meinher out of the slot.

A; switch stand including in combination with a switch point, of an operating plate having a slot formed therein, with ottset ends, means operatively connecting the operating plate to the switch point, a foot treadle, and an operating arm operatively connected to the foot treadle and'having a portion working in the slot adapted upon depression otthe treadle to move into one of the offset ends to operate the operating plate in one direction and adapted upon return of the treadle from depressed position to move in the slot and enter the other offset end to operate the plate in an opposite direction upon return of the treadle to depressed position.

A. switch stand comprising a switch point operating'har, a shaft having an operative connection with the bar, a plate secured thereto formed with a slot having oii set ends, a bell crank lever, a rod pivotally connected to the lever and having a pin inoving'in said slot, a dog for locking the plate in either of its two positions, a catch on the hell crank for operative connection to thedog for releasing the same and a pivoted treadle having a pin and slot connection with said hell crank.

A switch stand including in combination with a switch point, of an operating plate having a slot formed therein with ottset ends, means operativelv connecting the operating plate to the switch point, a foot treadle, an operating arm oporatively con nected to the foot treadle and having a portion working in the slot adapted upon depression of the treadle to move into one 01" the ofiset ends to operate the operating plate in one direction and adapted upon return of the treadle from the depressed position to move in the slot and enter the other oliset end to operate the plate in an opposite direction upon return of the treadle to depressed position, and means operable with the trcadle for looking the operating plate against operation.
A switch stand including in combination with a switch point, of an operating plate having a slot formed therein with otiset ends, means operatively connecting the operating plate to the switch point, a foot treadle, an operating arm operatively connected to the foot treadle and having a portion working in the slot adapted upon depression of the treadle to move into one of the offset ends to operate the operating plate in one direction and adapted upon return of the treadle from depressed position to move in the slot and enter the other oiiset end to operate the plate in an opposite direction upon return of the treadle to depressed position, and means for locking the treadle against operation.

A switch stand including in combination with a switch point, of an operating plate having a slotformed therein with offset ends. means operativelv connecting the operating plate to the switch point, a foot treadle, an operating arm operatively connected to the foot treadle and having a portion working in the slot adapted upon depression of the treadle to move into one of the offset ends to operate the operating plate in one direction and adapted upon return of the treadle from depressed position to move in the slot and enter the other oii'set portion to operate the plate in an opposite'direction upon return of the treadle to depressed position, 1116311,;OPQITHblG'bY the treadle for locking the operating plate against movement, and means for locking the treadle against movement.
