Be `it known that I, CHARLES Brno, a citizen of the United States of America, and resident of Fort lVayne, in the county of Allen and State of Indiana, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Floor Brushes, of which.thefollowing is a specification.

The back 3 has divergent tapering openings fl, preferably square. in crosssection, and the anchor plate 2 has a cavity 5 in its top at the lower end of said openings. p

Also, oppositely disposed depressions 9 are made in the head at, the corresponding sides ofthe slot 8. The depressions are located so as to be accessible through one of said openings 4 in the back of the brush when the head is inserted in position in the other opening.

comprises a Straight shank l0 and a contiguous coiled head 11, the shank beingpreferably tapered toward its outer end and of a size that will admit of the reception of its llower end in the depressions 9 and cause the bifurcated head of the handle to spread when forcibl7 progressed into the slot. The head of the eye-pin is formed of coils of such size as to admit of its being forcibly inserted between the walls cf the opening 4l and to be frietionally held therebetween when its shank is engaged in the head of the handle in the opposite opening.

Iny utilizing the invention the head of the handle is inserted into one or the other of the openings 4 in the back of the brush, and the eye-pin is insertedin the Opposite opening 4 with the shanklO extending beeye-pin being `forced into position so that the head of the handle is spread apart caus ing it to bind against the adjacent walls of the opening. In this manner the handle is held from twisting in the baekof the brush and from becoming loose therein. The cavitT in thel top of the plate affords clearance for the lower end of the head of the handle when inserted into the back of the brush.

What I claim is In a floor brush, ay brush including an anchor plate; a back to which the anchor plate is secured, said back having divergent openings extending upwardly therethrough and intersecting at their lower ends, a handle having` a bifureated head, shaped so yas to lit in either of Said openings; and an eye-pin having ya Shank and contiguous coiled head., said eye-pin being applicable selectively through the openings in the back of the brush to spread the head of the handle in the opposite opening at a point' beneath the intersection of said openings while its coiled head is secured in the corre- 95 spending opening from turningtherein.
