Be it known that we, \VILLIAiVt BERGER and CHARLES BLASOHKE, citizens of the United States, residing at Schulenburg, in the county of Fayette and State of Texas, have invented new and useful Improvements in Shoemakers Tools. of which the following is a specification.

Our present invention, pertains to shoemakers tools, and it contemplates the provision of a device through the medium of which the heel or any lift thereof may be readily, easily and efficiently removed from a shoe without injury to the body or other portion of the shoe.

The invention further contemplates the provision of a device, for removing heels or lifts from shoes, that is so constructed and arranged that the necessity of adjusting the device for various sizes of heels or lifts is effectually overcome, it being manifest that the device is ready for instant use irrespective of the size or shape of the heel or lift. 7

The invention in all of its details will be fully understood from the following description and claims when the same are read in connection with the drawings accompanying and forming part of this soecifica-' tion, in which I Figure 1 is a side elevation of our novel shoemakers tool and showing the device in the position it assumes preparatory to removing a heel or lift from the shoe.

Fig. 2 is a similan' view toFig. 1 and showing the device in its operative position with respect to a shoe and heel or lift.

Fig. 3 is atop plan view of the device.

Similar numerals of reference designate corresponding parts in all the views of the drawings.

Our novel device comprises a base 1 that.

is adapted to be fastened in a removable manner on a table or other support and formed integral or otherwise, on the base 1 is a post or standard'2 having a heel resting portion 3 that by preference is formed integral with the post 2. The portion 3 extends parallel with the base 1 and formed integral therewith is an upstanding portion that in turn is formed integral with the portion 4 that extends parallelvwith portion 3 as illustrated.

At its upper end the tool 5 is secured to a yoke 6 that v straddles the portion 5; said yoke 6 being pivotally connected to the forked end -7 of a lever 8 that is fulcrumed at 9 to the portion 4 of the device. I

It will be noted by reference to the drawings that the lever 8 is so constructed and arranged that a great amount of pressure may be easily applied to the tool 5.

In the practical use of the device, a shoe is placed in the position shown in Fig. 1 with the inside of the heel 10 resting against the portion 3. The beveled tool 5 is then placed between the lifts of the heel; and the lever 8 is forced into the position shown in Fig. 2. This forcing of the lever 8 will cause yoke 6 to completely straddle the tool 5 and draw the tool 5 downwardly and thus remove the heel-or lift from the shoe.

The device may be formed of any material compatible with its use and because of the few elements that enter into its construction the device as a whole may be easily and inexpensively produced and maintained in proper working order.

Moreover, because of its simplicity a person though unskilled in the art may employ the device and furthermore, because of the construction of the heel receiving portion, injury to the body portion of the device, during the operation thereof is precluded.

We do not wish to confine ourselves to the exact construction of device as such changes or modification in the arrangements of the elements entering into the device may be made as fairly fall within the scope of the appended claims. I

Having described our invention, what we claim and desire to'secure by Letters-Patent 1. In a device for the purpose set forth, the combination of a base, a post secured thereto, a projection formed integral on the post, a heel-receiving portion secured thereto, a portion arranged parallel above the heel-receiving portion and having an opening in its free end and secured to the heelreceiving portion by an upstanding portion, a tool having a lower beveled end and adapted to be guided by the opening of the portion above the heel receiving portion, a.

yoke pivotally connected to the upper end of the tool, and a lever fulcrumed to the upstanding portion of the heel-receiving portion and having a forked end that is pivotally onnected to the yoke.
