By means of the-spring 42 the desired degree of cutting or severing pressure is exerted upon the cord, twine-, -thread or the like being cut or severed. The spring 42 gives the anvil 40 the desired resiliency and thus -facilitates the cutting jor' severing. operation and results in'a much'cleaner job than wouldotherwise be accomplished.
