Be it known that I, HAROLD BAN'rooK SAN- KEY captain, R. F. A., a subject ofthe King of Great Britain, and residing at Wolver- 8 hampton, in the county of Stafiord, England, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Sheet-Metal Road Wheels, 'of which the following is a specification. This invention relates to. sheet metal 10 wheels of the disc t pe in which the disc is set out a considerab e distance fromthe mid plane of the wheel, and consists in forming 'the disc in two parts a middle part and an outer annular. part, a laterally projecting flange being formed on the inner part at its periphery. The inner edge of the outer part is secured to the periphery of the inner part in any suitable manner.
This application is a division of my prior application, Serial No. 337,361, filed November 11, 1919.
A convenient practical form of the invention is illustrated by the drawing herewith.
As shown in the drawing, the wheel comprises an inner or middle disc member 12 and an outer disc member g The inner disc member is bolted at its inner edge to a flange r of the wheel hub'and has, at its outer periphery, a flange s. Havin fully described my invention, what I c aim and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is:-
. 1. A sheet metal disc wheel comprising an outer annular disc member, an inner disc memberand a flange at the outer edge of said inner disc member, and means by which said outer disc is secured at its inner edge to said inner disc member. Y
2. A sheet metal disc wheel comprising an outer. disc member, a flange at the outer edge of said outer disc member, an inner disc member and a flange at the outer edge of said inner disc member, and means by which said outer disc member is secured at its inner edge to said inner disc member.
3. The combination with a hub having a barrel and flange, of acentral member arranged upon said hub and connected thereto, the outer edge of said member being turned laterally, and a disk having its inner 55 edge turned laterally and connected to the edge'of said member.
