STOVE Filed Oct. 18; 1921 2 Sheets-Sheet z I g INVENTOR iffiflvmw a i g BY W ATTORNEY WITNESSES patented Nov, 2?, 1923.
Bun-2 EUGENE EMIIIETT MASON, OF ATLANTA, GEORGIA.
srovn.
"a lication filed Qatober 1a, 1921 Serial No. 508,455.
pass into the pipe 11 and thus pass to the chimney. I form a horizontal flue 12 at the rear of the stove which connects the pipe llwith the rear upper partof the vertical 65 portion oi the fine or passage by the open-,
-ing and the connection of this fine With the pipe is controlled by a damper 13. When this damper is in position closing the flue 12 the products of combustion must pass around the oven but when this damper is open the'products of combustion Wlll pass over the oven and through flue 12 into the pipe. Thus in both cases the products of combustion Will come in contact with prac- -tically the entire stove top instead of onlv I Another object of the invention is to cause 15 the heat to pass under practically the Whole stove top, both. when the oven is being used" and when it 15 not being used. a This invention also consists in certain coming in contact with a portion thereof when the damper opening is placed at the center of the store as at present.
My arother features ot construction and in the 20 combination and arrangement of the several parts. to be hereinafter fully described illustrated in the accompanying drawings and specifically pointed out in the appended claim.
In describing my invention in detail, retcrence will be had to the accompanyiup drawings wherein like characters denote like or corresponding parts throughout the several views, and in which:.
Figure 1 is a front view oi a stove constructed in accordance with my invention with parts in section,
Figure 52 is a section on line of Fig ure '1.
Figure 3 ure 2.
Figure is a rear view.
Figure 5 is a view of the damper 13.
Figure 6 a section on line 6--(3 of Fig rangcmcnt of part also places the damper '20 where the products oi combustion are not so hot so that there is no danger of burning out the damper parts as at present.
Attention is called to the fact that my stove does not contain a damper or damper strip at all and that the direct and indirect draft is controlled by a single damper'in the pipe above the stove. Thus my stove can be manufactured more quickly and with le., expense than stoves coutaining dampers so and the danger of burninp' out dampers is clin'iinated. lily damper is always turned from the heat so that it is almost impossible to burn it.
It is thought from the foregoing description that the advantages and novel features of my invention will be readily apparent. l desire it to be understood thatl may make changes in the construction and in the combination and arrangement of the sevno ure 3. eral parts, provided that such changes fall in these views l indicates the casing of within the scope of the appended claim, the stove which is provided with the usualv What I claim is the box 2. ash pit 3 and even it, the oven It stove or" the class described comprising being! iormed of the sheet 5 which forms a an oven spaced from the bod ofthe stove M partition between the oven and firebox, and to form horizontal lines and a vertical flue the top and bottom sheets 6 and 7 and the which connects the two horizontal fines tocud sheet 8" The top and bottom sheets and gether, one horizontal flue being arranged the end sheet "form a flue or passage 9 tor above the oven and the other belon the oven, the products of combustion which after a chimney flue connected with the lower 194} flowing: around the oven pass into the due horizontal fine adjacent its closed end, a 10 at the rear of the stove from which they horizontal tine at theft-top of the stove at the is a section on line 33 oi? Figrear thereof, the rear of the stove having an opening therein which is located at the junction of the vertical flue with the upper horizontal flue and connects these flues with the horizontal fine at the rear of the stove,
a pipe onthe top of the stove for connecting the rear flue and the chimney flue with thereof with the reel horizontal flue and 10 with the chimney flue.
In testimony whereof I aifix my signature.
EUGENE EMMETT MASON.
