. c. M. WHITMAN STOVE Filed Jan. 16, 1925 2 eets-Sheet 1 wrmsss; ATTORNEY Nov. 17, 1925.
Patented Nov. 17, 1925.
UNITED STATES PATENT OFFICE.
STOVE.
Application filed January To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, CHARLES M. WHIT- MAN, a citizen of the United States, residing at I-Ienryetta, in the county of Okmulgee and State of Oklahoma, have invented new and useful Improvements in Stoves, of which the following is a specification.
This invention relates to a novel form of stove, the general object of the invention being to provide means whereby the maximum amount of heat will be secured from the stove with the minimum amount of fuel.
This invention also consists in certain other features of construction and in the combination and arrangement of the several parts, to be hereinafter fully described, illustrated in the accompanying drawings and specifically pointed out in the appended claim.
In describing my invention in detail, reference will be had to the accompanying drawings wherein like characters denote like or corresponding parts throughout the several views, and in which Figure 1 is a front view of the stove.
Figure 2 is a plan view.
Figure 3 is a longitudinal sectional view.
Figure 4 is a transverse sectional view.
Figure 5 is a side view.
In these views, 1 indicates the hollow base of the stove which is formed with the openings 2 to permit entrance of air into the base. Casings 3, 4 and 5 are seated on the base. The central casing has an opening 6 in its bottom which communicates with the interior of the base and its upper end is closed. Both ends of the casings 4: and 5 are closed, but the spaces between the casings open into the base. The base is provided with av large opening 1 in its top which communicates with the opening 6 in the central casing and with the spaces formed by the central casing and the two end casings. The upper part of the central casing is connected with the outer casings through the couplings 7, and pipes 8 placed on the outer sides of the casings 4 and 5 are connected with the bottom portions of 16, 1925. Serial No. 2,884.
said casings and extend over the top of the stove and connect with the chimney pipe 9. A burner 10 is arranged in the middle casing above the opening 6 and a door 11 is formed in said casing to provide access to the same. From the. foregoing it will be seen that the products of combustion from the burner 10 with the air passing through the opening 6 will pass up through the central casing and will pass from the same through the couplings 7 into the casings 4: and 5 and it will leave said casings 4 and 5 through the pipes 8 and will enter the chimney through the pipe 9. Some of the air from the base will pass upwardly through the spaces between the casings where it will be highly heated and the air surrounding the casings will be also heated so that the maximum amount of heat will be secured by the stove.
It is thought from the foregoing description that the advantages and novel features of my invention will be readily apparent.
I desire it to be understood that I may make changes in the construction and in the combination and arrangement of the several parts, provided that such changes fall within the scope of the appended claim.
What I claim is A stove of the class described comprising a hollow base having openings therein for admission of air, a central casing seated on the base and having an opening in its bottom, a pair of end casings seated on the base with their ends. closed, said end casings being spaced from the central casing and the base having openings which place its interior in communication with said spaces, a coupling connecting the upper part of each end casing with the upper part of the central casing, outlet pipes connected with the outer sides of the end casings and extending up alongside the said casing and across the tops of all the casings, a chimney connected with the top portion of the outlet pipes and a burner in the central casing.
In testimony whereof I afiix my signature.
CHARLES M. WHITMAN.
