Description

Nov. 5, 19 23. I 11,473ms O. HABICHT PRESSING BOW AND LAST Filed June 28 1922 lPatented Nov. 6, i923.
OTTO HABIQIEIT, 0F MUHLHEIlVI-ON-THE-MAIN, GERMANY.
PRESSING BOX/V AND LAST.
Application filed Stine-28, 1922.
To all whom it may concern Be it known that I, OTTO Hnniorrr, a citizen of the German Republic, residing at Muhlheim-on-the-Main, Germany, have in vented certain new and useful Improvements in a Pressing Bow and Last, of which the following is a specification.
This invention relates to an improvement of the device described in my prior Patent No. 1345942, dated February 20,l9f23. According to this prior application the stud designed to exert the pressure upon the front part of the last is guided in a sleeve located in the last; according to the present invention the arrangement is such that the use of the stud is not limited to a sleeve arranged at a determined point of the last but that it can act upon different points. This permits the front stud on the bow to engage the last as far as possible toward the front of the last as will be permitted by the upper closure of any style and size of shoe.
lVith this object in view the last has at its front end a device which permits the stud to act at different points. the device consisting for instance of a rack, with the teeth of which the stud engages, said stud being conveniently shaped. Such an arrangement permits, besides the advantage already mentioned, some other advantages. The rack serves to reinforce the last specially at the portion and it can be used further to receive, with lasts with exchangeable instep blocks, the front pin for fixing the block and eventually also the rear yielding pin although as arule the fixing of the front pin upon the rack would be suli icient. The fixation of this pin upon the rack instead of in the wooden part of the last presents the advantage that the pin can oppose a greater resistance to the strain than if it is fixed in the wood of the last, so that it does not get loose under the continuous strain.
In connection with lasts with exchangeable instep block the improved arrangement presents further the advantage that the rack is completely covered by the wedge so that the last can be used also for other purposes.
In order that the invention may be clearly understood, I shall proceed to describe the same with reference to the form of construction shown by way of example on the accompanying drawing, wherein:
Fig. 1 shows the last and pressure bow in side elevation partly in section.
Serial No. 571A27.
Fig. 2 is a side elevation of the last with exchangeable instep block thereon.
According to the invention a metal plate 2 is fixed by means of screws 3 at the front part of the last 1. Teeth 4 are arranged in said metal plate 2 at convenient distances apart. The stud 6 bevelled at its lower end 5 and fixed in the presser bow 7 or in the part 9 of said presser bow inserted in the dove-tailed guide of the bow, is designed to engage with any of the gaps between the teeth 4: of plate 2. The presser bow is removably fixed in the rear end of the last 1 by means of a second stud 1O guided in a sleeve 11.
The exchangeable wedge shaped part 12 of the last is fixed in a manner known per se in the main part of the last by means of stud 13 fixed upon the metal plate 2 and of a rear stud 14 which is pushed upward by the action of a spring.
l claim 1. In. combination with a presser bow for shoes, a last, a sleeve in the rear part of said last designed to receive a stud of the presser bow, and means at the front part of the last designed to hold the second stud of the presser bow at different points.
2. In combination with a presser bow for shoes, a last. a sleeve in the rear part of said last designed to receive a stud of the presser bow, and a rack at the front part of the last, the teeth of said rack being designed to be engagedby a second and pivot able stud on the presser bow.
3. In combination with a presser bow for shoes, a last, a sleeve in the rear part of said last designed to receive a stud of the presser bow, and a toothed metal plate at the front part of the last, the teeth of said plate being designed to be engaged by a second and pivotal stud of the presser bow which is bevelled at its free endl. In combination with a presser bow for shoes, a last, a sleeve in the rear part of said last designed to receive a stud of the presser bow, and a toothed metal plate at the front part of the last, the teeth of said plate being designed to be engaged by a second stud of the presser bow which is bevelled at its free end and a slide adjustable on said bow carrying said second stud.
A. last having a body portion and a removable instep block, a rack on the front part of said body portion, a stationary stud on the frontend of said rack anda spriug projected stud at the rear of said rack, sald studs inclined to' one another and said instep block having holes to receive said studs,
the hole at the rear of said block for receiving said spring projected stud passing entirely through said block.
In testimony whereof I afibrmy signature in presence of two Witnesses.
